My dad has five brothers and one of them is my Uncle Bob, who showed me this movie as a kid and I actually have called him UB my entire life because of this. :) He also lives in Chicago! (he has a timeshare in Arizona for the winter months though) Anyway, it is such a special 80s movie and I feel like it's one of the lesser known John Hughes masterpieces. Loved rewatching it with you!
