2024-07-10 06:37:26 +0000 UTCThank you MID! This movie is probably my favorite comfort movie and it’s so under appreciated. Not seen by many but all the performances and the acting is incredible. Some big stars too. This is based on a true story! However the family was in Australia and the scarlett Johansson love story didn’t exist, but this man Benjamin Mead did lose his wife and then up and decided to buy a rundown zoo! They did fix it up and then he wrote a book about it by the same name! Cameron Crowe read the book and thought it would make for a great movie! I love it because it really has everything. It’s sad but real and truthful, it has comedy (Thomas Haden Church makes me cackle every time he’s on screen), romance, and of course incredible animals!!! There were over 20 animal trainers on set at any given time. All the animals are REAL not CGI. Even the bear and the tjgers. BTW, Jonsi is an icelandic artist and his music is really ethereal and wonderful. He has a couple songs in English but mostly in his native tongue. Cameron Crowe picked his music specifically because he thought it fit the nature and majesty of the animals. The We Bought A Zoo soundtrack is one of my favorite things to listen to for calming down, being in nature, and for a mood uplift.
