Ame-no-Mitori, can literally be translated as "Heavenly Bird Life" though its much more complex apparently: Ame no Mitori means "Rain of end of life’s watch”’ or to watch over that which rains the end to another life. It does not translate well, Mitori closely means "end of life hospice care," but comes from an older word meaning to comfort the dying. It’s not something English has one word for. It is commonly mistranslated as “heavenly bird life“ because tori is phonetically the word for bird. However, this is not the kanji used when the name is written artistically. One might observe Tenka's powers have nothing to do with heavens birds or life, but they do rain death on her enemies while she watched from afar.
