a cop is allowed to have a gun in the airplane. My Dad was on a normal passenger airplane and he saw a prisoner with two police officers (not in uniform). They were sitting on either side of the prisoner. They had guns on them but it's obscured. Only police officers and likewise can carry a gun on the plane. Also unrelated, Alan Rickman's voice is so distinct

Argyle couldn't leave because they closed all the gates to the parking garage. I *think* the shoe thing is more important in the book but I never read it so I'm not sure. Very entertaining movie, thank you sir. the fat cop is Reginald VelJohnson who also plays a cop on Family Matters(the tv show with Urkel). This was Rickman's first movie role, he mostly did broadway before this.
