funny you say it sounds similar John William's scores, lets just say composers in movies tend to sample from each other a bit, but change it just enough so it is not something you can sue them for. Classic example is the theme of Psycho changed just enough for The Reanimator. Also Star trek 2 and Battle beyond the stars themes I think. Another thing that probably hurt this movie is that you have like 20 minute prologue then a reset to finally introduce your main character of the story so takes a long time to get going. Also speaking of paralysis, did you ever see the movie Awake with Hayden Christensen? Its about a person put under for surgery but is still awake and can feel everything, an actual condition that can happen when put under anesthesia.
