The prosecution argued it was premeditated, while Tan claimed self-defense due to years of domestic violence against his mother. The trial ended in a mistrial as the jury couldn't reach a unanimous verdict, leading to the dismissal of charges against Tan, but there’s so much more to the story.

That is very sad. Charlie prob felt helpless because his family were immigrants and took matters into his own hands.
