Life Update - Someone broke into our place

First I got sick. Then, my sinuses got inflamed all day yesterday, which is very disabling if you know how rhinitis can be... but the cherry on the cake:
Last night, our apartment was broken into.
I was alone at home when it happened (my fiancé Ed was not back from work yet) and I'm lucky to not have been hurt. Luckily I scared the culprit away before they got any chance to steal anything. However... this was a very scary and intense moment. As you can guess.
It all happened because of an (apparently totally unrelated) power-cut in the building, which brought me to leave the place for a few minutes to check the circuit breaker with my neighbors. Once I walked back into my place I heard a strange noise (while still being in the complete darkness and holding my phone as an only source of light). When I realized it wasn't just noise and saw the shadow of a stranger standing in the office my body just went into survival mode.
Everything happened really fast but that was enough to scare the hell out of me... and not feel safe at home anymore.
The police didn't have much to go on because the culprit didn't have time to do much. He literally only had time to put two feet inside when I saw him and when he heard me shout he jumped straight back out of the window and ran/climbed away like a "Yamakasi"...
I don't know if anyone will be caught but it has brought a lot of anxiety at home. No need to say it but we did not have a good night's sleep after that.
There's not much else to say. I guess it's a sign for us to hurry our moving out plans. My 1st goal of 2021 was already to move into a more comfortable & safe place but now it definitely is priority number 1.
