Kruger Shalati, South Africa [NSFW]

Perhaps one of our favorite hotel stays and silliest photo shoots! Kruger Shalati, known as the train on the bridge hotel, is a one-of-a-kind adventure in South Africa's famed Kruger National Park.

Located on the Selati Bridge suspended high above the Sabie River, Kruger Shalati pays homage to its rich history. The train is named after Shalati, an African warrior queen, and it sits in the exact spot where it would park overnight during the first rail safaris back in the early 1920’s.

Andy was also a train driver in San Francisco when we met back in 2018, so a stay at Kruger Shalati in one of their carriage suites was a must on our excursion to Kruger. And once we donned our colorful silk robes, we instantly felt Shalati's energy! We also want to give a shout out to the remarkably gay-friendly staff who made us feel THIS comfortable to enjoy our stay to the fullest!

Beautiful photos guys! You both look so happy and full of joy (and so hot)! Thanks for posting! 😉

MJ

Thank you, thanks for sharing, and we’re sure you’re going to love Zipolite!! I (Trai) climbed Kilimanjaro in Tanzania many years ago and loved it there too! The Serengeti was incredible 🙌

Andrew Dvorak

I have done Kenya/Tanzania safari but not Kruger or S. Africa but it's on the bucket list. Giraffe Manor sounds incredible. I'm grateful for the ideas and inspiration you provide for us to travel (especially the hotels) and as a nudist myself, glad that there is a way to express your trips beyond what YouTube will allow. Thanks for the adventures. BTW, I'm trying Zipolite for the first time in October.

John

Yes, this has been on our travel list too!! We like that you can include it with a tour of other lodges in Kenya altho it’s pretty pricey (but all safaris are)! Definitely a unique and unforgettable experience tho!! 🦒 🦒 🦒

Andrew Dvorak

I have had on my travel list for a few years now to do a Micato safari, as they look quite special and amazing. I recently added Giraffe Manor in Nairobi as well. When we saw your episode on Kruger Shalati, I added that as well. I guess it will be quite a tour around Africa, with of course time in So. Africa following your hotel and beach recommendations! Thanks for the insights. Have you checked out the Giraffe Manor? Looks amazing!!! The giraffes peek in the window as you eat breakfast! https://www.thesafaricollection.com/properties/giraffe-manor/

lol 😅

Andrew Dvorak

This looks amazing, I’m going to keep it on my list when I go to South Africa! I’m so glad to see you guys are more comfortable sharing more “detailed” pictures of yourselves. ☺️

Car Daddy

So many trunks…. Elephant and other ones. Lol

Kendall

Thank you! Glad they brought back some good memories! Kruger Shalati is a great mid-range option in the area and best part—it’s only 10-minutes from an airport with commercial flights!

Andrew Dvorak

What a fabulous place to stay. I’m going to look into it since an African safari is on my bucket list! Love your cute photos too- reminds me of when I was your age & my deceased husband liked to take pictures of me on our trips in the shower & bathtub !!!!

John Roos

100% 😇

Andrew Dvorak

And the head on it is really nice too. So important for proper flow. 🚿

Frank

100% recommend! They pick you up from the airport (many lodges charge many hundreds extra for this convenience) and everything is included: afternoon tea, game drives, and all meals with local alcohol—even the mini bar 🙌

Andrew Dvorak

Thanks! The lighting was perfect 😉

Andrew Dvorak

Planning our own trip here based on your experience and cannot wait!

Trevor Stevenson

Love the shower 🚿
