Perhaps one of our favorite hotel stays and silliest photo shoots! Kruger Shalati, known as the train on the bridge hotel, is a one-of-a-kind adventure in South Africa's famed Kruger National Park.
Located on the Selati Bridge suspended high above the Sabie River, Kruger Shalati pays homage to its rich history. The train is named after Shalati, an African warrior queen, and it sits in the exact spot where it would park overnight during the first rail safaris back in the early 1920’s.
Andy was also a train driver in San Francisco when we met back in 2018, so a stay at Kruger Shalati in one of their carriage suites was a must on our excursion to Kruger. And once we donned our colorful silk robes, we instantly felt Shalati's energy! We also want to give a shout out to the remarkably gay-friendly staff who made us feel THIS comfortable to enjoy our stay to the fullest!
