Pattern and Instructions: The Dandy Waistcoat (A Guest Artist Design)

So dashing! So dapper! I’m SO delighted to share this month’s guest artist design with you, the Dandy Unisex Waistcoat. Working with Dandy Wellington has been a dream, and I know you’re going to love this striking vintage-inspired waistcoat. Sew up this unisex version (in sizes XS-5XL) for yourself or for that dapper person in your life!

In this post, you'll find the instructions and the pattern (both tiled and A0 versions) so that you can start dreaming about your first waistcoat right away. But that's not all! Coming up in the next few weeks, we will be releasing tutorial videos as well as . . . drumroll, please . . . a femme version in our full Charm size range with A-H cup sizes! I know I'll be living my full Marlene Dietrich fantasy. Hurrah, waistcoats for all! (Below you'll see the line art for the unisex version on the left and the Charm version on the right.)

Dandy Wellington is one of my favorite people to follow on Instagram, so I was thrilled he agreed to collab with us as a guest artist. This waistcoat is based on one in his personal vintage collection, and it has all the hallmarks of bespoke menswear of yore: a tailored fit, welt pockets, a silk back, waist tabs for cinching, and a silhouette that pairs perfectly with high-waisted trousers. We sewed his version in a beautiful yellow tattersall, one of Dandy's personal favorite fabrics.
