Fun fact: The reason we some people find half out of frame pictures/videos sad/depressing is because we tend to seek out faces and interpret facial expression, it's a crucial aspect of communication. When only half of the face is visible that communication becomes incomplete, leading to a sense of disconnection/sadness/frustration, in addition to this, half-hindered faces leave much to the imagination. Faces are how we identify someone, when part of a face is hidden/out of frame it can obscure important facial features that contribute to our recognition and understanding of a person, the loss of identity can contribute to what i described. Depending on the character/person - out of the frame/partially hidden faces also have a symbolic meaning, but that's how media, movies, games portray it anyway.
