Update

Thank you for the kind words in response to my previous post. I am still moving forward with the next scene, though I'll admit I'm still not quite 100%. I hope to have it next weekend but I am not making any promises. Sorry, and thank you for your patience.

To do something other than despair about drawing for a little bit, I briefly worked on something else. I repurposed the bones of snack story to to lay the groundwork for a text adventure game. It plays in the same way, where you click on text options to progress, or the arrow keys when they are highlighted. You can play it here:

There's barely anything in it for now, but it's hopefully enough to give you an idea of what it could be. It differs from snack story in that it has no art at all, which I'm sure is disappointing to some, and I'm sorry for that. On the other hand, not having any art means I can write without having to take into account what I have to draw, and things like branching paths can be done with far more freedom.

I have no idea if something like this interests people, so whether or not I continue working on this depends entirely on you guys telling me you want more. I'm not kidding! If I get no response for this I'll just leave it as it is, so if this is something you want more of please leave a response.

To be clear, I am still focused on the next scene, which will be the next release. I have no intention of trying to juggle a bunch of different projects again, this would simply be something on the side to work on when I feel like it or get burnt out. Nevertheless, let me know if you want more.

Thank you for your support

would like a alternative ending where the hero turns the table and somehow drinks up the slime

I really enjoyed this is well! This style of game is really great. I was a big fan of snack story and I love where this game is going. Your writing is nice and descriptive, so I'd be totally fine without any artwork for this game. I think this is really interesting, and I hope you decide to make more!

Nice to see the adventure game make a return. The writing is nice, though I think if you want to keep people engaged maybe have a small window at the bottom-centre of the screen between the arrows and map. It does defeat the purpose of avoiding making art for it, though I'd help make it a long term format for different stories (a bit like a fighting fantasy adventure). It can display a static image of characters you run into once they fully reveal themselves in the scene, accompanied by audio when needed, then remove it once the main character moves on. (No background or a set of images to animate the character, just one still image. Could even be just be shaded black and white) Besides that, great to see you making things and keep up the good work.

I really like it. It's a nice little spiritual successor to Snack Story and I would love for it to get continued. I know the game is mostly text-based but I think some audio would be nice. Nothing major of course, but it could be something similar to Snack Story where audio plays when you go to a next location, someone burps, stomach gurgles, etc. Overall, very good and I hope to see more.

Super looking forward to more of this idea

I'm a fan. Keep at it when you've got the time.

For the text game maybe having art for a location to set a mood and then maybe for characters just have a journal like tab for a basic image and a description of their appearance

Just played through the text game, seems pretty good! It's cool to see your writing talent as well as your art. I'd certainly be interested to see more of this, though I do think some sound effects, even small ones for progressing text or moving rooms, would be welcome (since you asked if people would want sounds). Whatever you do next, put yourself first! Hope you're doing okay.
