2025-05-30 22:43:29 +0000 UTCCapitalism funnily enough taken to it's extreme would be a utopian more so than authoritarian. Because capitalism is based on free markets and people being able to exchange their goods, along with property rights and the like. The problems arise in how does that free market, and property rights get enforced? In corporate run states, it's either through controlling the government and passing laws to help them and punish competitors. Or it's by having corporate muscle/enforcers to do much the same as the government, except usually on a smaller scale and more overtly brutal. Free markets are the best way to grow overall money of a state and it's people, but it needs a government with low amounts of corruption to actually succeed, or it can very easily turn into a oligarchy, like what happened to post USSR Russia. They brought in free markets, but the government basically sold most of its valuable assets to connected insiders for cash payouts. Which resulted in a very corrupt corporate state until Putin took over and made it his dictatorship.
