I like your analysis of Zuko in this one. From the moment we met him, Zuko has been holding onto and fixating on this narrative that he brought his banishment on himself and that he wields the power to return to his former self with enough willpower, suffering, and loyalty to his country/father. Anytime anyone frames his situation and identity outside of that narrative, he reacts with hostility. Song framed him as a victim of the Fire Nation, and Aang framed him as someone who does not have to be defined by his position in the Fire Nation. Iroh gently prods him into different ways of thinking all the time and Zuko is basically never nice about it.
