A thing I like about the year jumps between the arcs is a scene such as the one with Vel, who you would think would be very very upset, unstable, and maybe even unreasonable after the last arc where it could have even been annoying. But we are able to move past that with the few lines of dialogue, acknowledge that in the time since she was reckless and needed a break, and now was ready to work for the rebellion. The "messenger" sequence works so good in conjunction with Cassian's entire journey through Rogue One. Also I think this isn't what you mean but there is another arc after episode 9, 12 total episodes.
