I think the implication with J. K. Simmons character is that Sarah told him her plan to escape in the message so he can try it himself. Thats why he's so happy that Nyles doesn't recognise him cause he now knows it works.

I actually forgot she was in it so when I saw her I got so excited and then I was like.. are we going to see more of her? And then she only made one more brief appearance BUT I did catch that maybe she was stuck in the loop too after the way Sarah looked at her.. again it's not a diss or anything against the film.. just love June Squibb!! Hope she gets some awards this season for Thelma!! ❤️
