New BOP 1.55 made this old carone of the best Gr3 car under BOP.
This classic Nissan is a pleasure to drive, and this BOP setup works well with max power and a turbo. The engine is very peaky, so you’ll need to adjust the gearbox for each specific track, especially with the turbo.
I plan to create a tutorial using this car, as a customized gearbox makes a significant difference with peaky engines. For cars with a well-spread powerband, almost any gearbox setup works with minimal lap time differences (as you’ll see using your ghost). But with peaky engines, a well-matched gearbox really stands out.
I'm going to put a "Gr3 BOP" section in the "collections" close to "Home Page" button.
They'll race under BOP rules , only weight and power , but with full open settings. BOP is the only way to have a similar performance for all Gr3 cars race fairly.
Suspension , Differential , Downforce , Gearbox , brake balance only will be tunable.
You can adapt your car for a specific track setting your transmission and downforce only. Downforce setting need to be setted same value front and rear to keep the good balance.
Suspension , Differential are ok for any kind of track.

It’s horrible to use with a turbo, but without it under BOP rules, it’s my fastest Gr3 car on SPA with this gearbox. The turbo is very peaky, making it hard to stay in the optimum RPM range. The 5-gear gearbox doesn’t help either.

2025-02-07 16:43:20 +0000 UTCI look forward to your gearing video! I tried this out in a Gr3 race a Lago Maggiore and simply can't keep up with the rest of the cars. It handles well, but it seems just too slow.

2025-02-06 21:12:55 +0000 UTC1) Set the "Top Speed (Automatically Adjusted)" setting FIRST; 2) Select "Manual Adjustment"; 3) Set the "Final" gear; 4) Set 1st, 2nd, 3rd, ...; 5) If the gears are too close together, you might have to repeat step 4 a second or third time.

Usually I make my friends race me in stock only cars because I hate it so much. But finding your work has helped me a lot, skipping the part of the game I don’t enjoy. Do you think you can post 1 car, tuned for each of the BOP tracks specifically? Gr3 and 4. Like a car specially tuned for Daytona BOP gr3, as an example. I lack the knowledge, and frankly the will to learn as well, on how to tune downforce / transmission to a track. Either way, this is a great resource for me. Thank you for doing this.
