DS9 s2e1 “The Homecoming”

LET'S GET READY TO SERIALLLIZZZZZE! Or at least start to as Matt and Andy discuss Frank Langella's refusal to take credit, whether Cardassians and Bjorans are into each other in general, and the fastest and most uneventful prisoner breakout plan in Trek history.

Also, SOMEWHERE IN TIME (starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour) spoiler at 1:06ish.  Yes, SOMEWHERE IN TIME.

[Episode discussion begins around 1:09]

Post your PRIORITY ONE comments and/or questions here and they’ll get special consideration to be read in the TNC prime pod or Patreon bonus pods!  And if you’re in the President’s Circle, you may be the honored recipient of a Christopher Pike Medal of Valor!  [Brief and concise raises your chances of reaching air as there is generally no editing of hails, but you do you!]

If you have jingles or sound bites or images to send, use sttncpod@gmail.com but let us know whether you’re on the Lieutenants level or in the President’s Circle and include the title of episode your hail is regarding in the subject heading.

I’m putting this where my fellow Presidents can see/hear it, since I don’t expect y’all to go back to the Post-card hails. “Mercury in retrograde” occurs when Mercury and Earth are on the same side of the Sun. Closer planets orbit faster, so Mercury “passes” us and it’s apparent path across our sky is different than “normal.” This happens 3-4 times per year, for about 3 weeks at a time. So, about 20% of your life. But as your resident astrophysicist, I would ask you: Through what physical process could the motion of Mercury affect your life? Is it the light? The gravitational force? And why are the areas of your life that this hunk of rock is supposed to govern - communication, travel, shipping - all based on the mythological characteristics of its namesakes, Mercury/Hermes? Because it’s a fast planet, and this messenger god had those zippy winged shoes?
