ENTERPRISE s3e4 “Rajiin”

A lot of sexy CG scans and pew-pews don't add up to much of a story this week.

Post your Enterprise-related comments/questions here for consideration for the next Enterprise pod!

Sure but how would you feel about it?

Discovery was already between Enterprise and TOS. 'Archer' would presumably be just before it

In switching to “Picard”, I started to think, how would I feel if they managed to get the cast back for an “Archer” show. And in the spirit of going down a rabbit hole, would that be a prequel or a sequel or some weird pre-sequel?

Now my brief thoughts on the episodes to this point series 2 Episode 26: The Expanse No episode has ever so clearly changed and redefined a show for the better so much as this. There are spoiler points I could point to but it's like if as Romcom suddenly turned into a grim and gritty war movie. There is a fallow period when they reuse pre-retool plots but this is when Enterprise becomes my second favourite Star Trek of all time Series 3 Episode 1 The Xindi AKA Enterprise has a military now and they kick arse A strong start to the series arc Series 3 Episode 2 The Anomaly This is post-9/11 Archer I could say a lot about his characterisation (and I will) but it's important to remember that there is a long history of sneak attacks on American soil causing Americans to be suddenly gung ho about war. The change from Archer here is no different. As to why only Reed seems to question Archer this episode and even then there isn't much push back you have to remember ther position Enterprise is in. They have been away from Earth for two years and they weren't subject to the rolling news of the devastation for months like those back on Earth were. For most of them it would be like for me as a British kid when 9/11 happened. They weren't in a position to experience the situation as people who were in the country at the time. Archer is similarly isolated from the trauma but he is the Captain of the ship that has been out there for two years and he knows that he is a nerd who likes water polo and has been playing at being a hero most of the time. There have been close calls for Archer and his crew before but nothing that could risk the people back home. He has suddenly had a wake up call to the massive responsibility that he bears and he is terrified of being complacent. I am not defending his actions or the writing but trying to explain why to me his apparrent change in characterisation makes sense. The reason I think that the crew doesn't question Archer's actions is that they are still used to the cuddly idiot who likes water polo, loves his dog and helps design engines. The crew is probably willing to just assume he has a good reason because it's so unlike the man they know to do something like that. Series 3 Episode 3 Extinction I love this episode. It is daft, dark and an interesting scifi concept. Series 3 Episode 4 Rajinn Every series seems to have at least one stupidly horny episode. This is the series 3 one. The sole redeeming feature is that it establishes that the episode Extinction had lasting effects on the crew. So you can add "Was turned into a monkey alien" to the list of reasons Archer's judgement is compromised this season.
