New Dragon Ball Dissection!

Great video as always!! I was wondering if you’d mention the DB anime filler of the demon realm Goku visited, and you did! It brought back fond memories of watching those episodes for the first time, taping them on weekday afternoons off of Cartoon Network... oh man, the nostalgia! DB filler felt very effortful. Can’t wait for the next video - but please rest and thank you so much for all your efforts lately, and as always, despite the technical issues and all! (Oh and I actually didn’t know that about BTTF and your MistareFusion name! Good to know!)

I feel when you don't know just how pointless this entire little part will be in the long run you get hyped! Babidi and Dabara give a very intimidating vibe and seem like powerful opponents for Gohan to face (and fit that 'big guy, little guy' role Toryama loves in his stories). Add in that little reveal of Gohan being not as strong as when he fought Cell and you get the feeling this won't be easy (which it turns out it totally is and the heroes only lose because well... Vegeta. I feel that has been a trend since post-Freeza). But, when you go back and re-read this section there is a big BUT attached to that. As knowing Buu is just going to kill off Babidi in a few chapters and do another soft reboot of the character (Super Buu)... this section of the story feels like it should have been fleshed out more and Babidi and Dabara should have gotten more development before being totally forgotten in the story. Like Dabara is such a cool concept and character with such a cool grab-bag of abilities that he could have driven a few more confrontations with the heroes on his own. Oh, well. I still love this arc as a whole, but can still be disappointed with the end result. You can totally quote me on this as the entire Buu Saga is an exorcise in frustration as it had all the makings to be the best Arc in the series, but due to either Toryama not caring, not being properly focused, or just his bad writing habits coming back to bite him, this arc just does not make good on all the promises it makes throughout the story. This will be Gohan's story... nope. Videl will be important... nope. Fusion will be key to defeating Buu... nope. Vegeto will be permanent and Goku and Vegeta will never be able to defuse... extra nope. Dabara will be a powerful henchman for Babadi... extra nope. Shin is a powerful god... haha okay I'll stop. Great episode Fusion! Loving these episodes!
