Sales Tax Coming in July
Added 2020-06-01 04:09:15 +0000 UTCDepending on whether or not you follow other creators here, you might already know this. I'm a little late at getting the word out, and I might be beating Patreon to the punch by only a few hours.
To the point, Patreon is going to begin adding sales tax to certain types of transactions beginning in July. While I am going to spend some time over the course of June figuring out exactly how it's going to affect my own Patreon, I will at least try to give a brief overview of what I understand so far. If I am saying anything that is incorrect I will try to correct in the future.
Only specific types of rewards fall under the jurisdiction of sales tax, at least here in the U.S. Access to communities, like the Discord server, are not applicable. Receiving shout-outs in the credits of videos is not applicable. However, it appears physical rewards are subject to it, so a couple of my tiers might be affected.
What is considered taxable and what that amount is is not something I can tell you because it's dependent on where you, the patron, lives, not where I live. Depending on your state or your country, details might be different. Apparently I also cannot adjust the price of each tier to include taxes.
So I suppose that is it for now. As I said, I'll try to be working with Patreon over the next month to clarify what counts and what doesn't, so I can hopefully make this transition as smoothly for everybody as possible. Thank you so much for your patience and for your support.

P.S. Here's some good news, though. Tomorrow, $10+ tiers are getting a new Dragon Ball Dissection!
