First Time Watching Mississippi Burning!!!

First Time Watching Mississippi Burning for JL.  Patreon Exclusive/Patron Pick.

*Train to Busan is also coming today, but since Rom wasn't feeling great yesterday, J didn't get to watch it until late.  So it'll be exported and uploaded on here later today once The Ring's edit is finalized.

First Time Watching Mississippi Burning!!!

Comments

Fantastic movie.. aside from all the segregation and racism crap, the cast was perfectly chosen. Only time you'll see Gene Hackman and Willem Dafoe in a movie together. Murder in Mississippi was the movie that came out before Mississippi Burning. Another good old southern drama would be Bastard Out of Carolina! Very good drama.

Those type of people are why J and I both never looked back when we left. Not everybody, but enough to not miss it. LoL

Racist's and bigot's are the most vile; ignorant and backwards thinking people walking the Earth. They claim Religion as theirs, and that it gives them the right to do anything they want. Fuck that!! Oh, the mayor is played by R. Lee Ermey J. He played the Drill Sargent in "Full Metal Jacket". He also has a minor role in the film I chose this month. "Apocalypse Now".

Chris Baldwin

You sir are a MAGICO!!!

Big Frank

Thank for sharing that with us.

***NOTE*** - Sync was off as I didn't have all the pause times, but it's fixed now, and should be good to go and totally synced the entire movie now.

Blank EOM

The movie goes out of sync around the minute 45 fyi!!!

I was born in a small town in New York, ten miles from the Canadian border. My father was from Canada, and wanted NOTHING to do with me. They were never married, which makes me a bastard. I was raised by my mother, and her parents. As a boy I had a few friend's. One was the only Black kid/person in Town. He still lives here in fact, and we talk whenever we run into each other. He's a good dude and we had a lot of fun growing up. When I was 13 I met my best friend at an encampment at a local Air Force base that's closed now. We were in the Civil Air Patrol. That's an auxiliary of the Air Force, dating back to WW 2. He had come to the U.S. from Haiti when he was 9 year's old, and his family lived in Jamaica, Queens, in N.Y. City. During the summer either I would go down and spend a week or two with him, and/or he would come up here. I had a big crush on his sister Joelle, but she already had a boyfriend. Such is life! He called my mother mom, and I called his mother Ma. The night my Mom died, I called him to let him know. He was here in about six hour's. It's 475 miles from there to here. He stayed with me all through the wake and Funeral. We would die for each other. Because we don't give two shit's what color we are, never have and never will. When his daughter got married during Covid, I flew to Los Angeles to be there anyway, for him. When I had my Lung out because of Cancer, Reg came to Burlington Vermont, and stayed with my wife for a week, until I was sent home. About the Religion thing, I agree totally!! The most "pious" people are the ones with dirty little secret's. As you said, they cheat on their spouses, or steal, or have something to be ashamed of. I was raised a Catholic. But after you see all the evil shit around you growing up, you slowly lose that "faith". On the QT though, I still say little prayer's here and there, just in case. You know? Well, I've said too much, so I'll end with this. I could see how bad this affected you, as it should. There were no "light" moment's in this, and I was cringing right along with you. Peace and love always J my man.

Chris Baldwin

I'd never seen this one myself, it was streaming free online so I figured I might as well watch along with J and experience it together. Powerful movie.

Renee S

I noticed that too, but it did resolve after a while.

Renee S

An hour twenty eight minutes in, I think it synced up. All is well.

Chris Baldwin

About 45 minutes in, when you held up the mirror, you were not seeing what we were. Or I'm wrong??

Chris Baldwin

Really appreciate you giving your perspective. A good reaction as always, and to a hard topic.

ChickensAreRacist

That’s right. And he’s Billy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

ChickensAreRacist

Great movie, very very difficult to watch, but important to see just how vile racism can be. You asked who the guy in the barbershop chair is...his name is Brad Dourif. You may remember him as Grima Wormtongue from Lord of the Rings. He is also...Chucky himself from the Child's play series, and a ton of other roles (he was amazing in Exorcist 3)

Victor Casas

Am I crazy or are you off sync between your audio and visual? I may be crazy either way but idk. Edit: I see it got corrected in the beginning of the third act. I’ll take it :)

ChickensAreRacist

Francis McDormand is my baby. MINE! The wife knows.

ChickensAreRacist

This is my pick!!!!!

Big Frank

One of the most powerful movies ever made. I'm so glad Jay's reacted to this, thank you! The oscar's were well deserved imo! It breaks my heart every time, but the payback at the end...The original ''Mr Anderson!'' - RIP Gene Hackman.

SilverDoe🎔

Brad Dourif (Voice of Chucky) is the main antagonist in this movie!
