I relate so much with what you said about being in a room where everyone just knows what is the right thing to do and how to be helpful and i'm just standing there!

I am the same as you, Meg. When I am cold, I'm COLD. 🥶 And I hate it! Spring is my favourite season. I like Summer but it bums me out a little because it's actually the start of everything getting darker. I also really like the ease of warm seasons when it comes to clothes and stuff. I don't like all the layers I have to wear in Winter.
That Chloe Hayden video is super relatable. Not so much the forgetting but how she was feeling at her in-laws and just saying 'I'm fine.' Sometimes I think I could be on fire, I'd still try and say 'I'm fine'. But I'm trying to be better with it.

I used to hate cooking because I just liked the most plain ingredients anyway (and because of the sensory stuff and difficulty chopping, but I hadn't really put that together) but started to enjoy it since I've been able to do it by myself, without feeling judged for taking too long to chop or do things weird or adjusting the ingredients to include just what I like. It's so much better without the pressure to do it 'right'

I've always had what a friend and I call "fail flail" (we share this random flinging of objects and dropping everything in sight!). They are dyspraxic and ADHD and I'm Autistic (and quite likely ADHD too) but def wondering about dyspraxia now watching this. I have a neurological disability as well (a type of vasculitis) so I thought it might be related to that but now I'm not so sure! Interesting... and not always possible to work out the why 😉

I dislike heat in all forms but one: when I am wearing thick, heavy clothes. I guess that is more like warmth. I have a heavy robe that I wear whenever it is cold enough. I squeal with joy whenever the conditions are right. I dislike summer. Bare arms! Ugh! No jacket!
My favourite sensation is a cool (read: cold) breeze on my face, particularly when the rest of my body is covered by soft, cozy clothing.

I am a hard core morning person. I spring out of bed when I realize it is time to get up. My best work is in the morning. By mid afternoon, the executive function is dried up. Note: this is only true if I don’t have a job I hate.

Chloe’s TikTok is very relatable. When I was a younger guy with roommates, I felt awkward in my home when a group of friends would visit. I tried just to be invisible. I would be standing in a doorway, watching the event from afar. Invisible. Or so I thought. One day, someone said, “Oh, you’re the guy who always stands in the doorway with a mug in your hand. I’ve never seen you do anything else.”
I am excellent at masking when working or even performing, but I can’t do it at a party, so I steer clear of them.

I'm still so surprised to hear about experiences that are like mine! It's been a year since my diagnosis but I'm still expecting no one to be like me ^^' Chloe Hayden's tiktok resonates so much with my experience! That I can be such a social butterfly in some contexts and then suddenly I get into a context where that's not the case for a mysterious reason and I just freeze and lose my words and typically say no to everything exactly like her, and have that feeling of estrangement like a vertigo 👀 even sometimes with the very same people. It's not only about spoons, I feel like it's also about the accessibility of skills in my brain or something.

I really needed this today, because I went to a funeral and grieving isn't made any easier by awkward social situations. When in large group, I always end up trying to follow every conversation around me in hopes that I can come up with something to say to anyone, but end up feeling confused and overwhelmed. Today I didn't feel like trying to talk to anyone, so I just sat there in silence for most of the time. But people were not talking to me, so I shouldn't have to feel bad for not talking to them either.
A tip: I once went to a restaurant, where they brought scissors for cutting pizza. A lot easier than a knife or even a pizza cutter.

Thanks for sharing! I love learning about cultural differences. Even in a nice restaurant here they typically would slice the pizza before bringing it to the table. Maybe not if it’s an “authentic” Italian restaurant in the US, but I don’t know. 😊

I have never ever seen a restaurant cutting someones Pizza! But we go to real italian restaurants that serve real italian Pizza. This is very different to that fat Fast Food Pizza You can get delivered! And we always get a whole Pizza for one person, You don´t share slices or order just slices like on the go as a snack at the train station. You sit down, on a table with a table cloth and eat them wit fork and knife cutted in little pieces like normal food, don´t eat with Your hands. Oh, I live and grew up in Germany with an argentinian dad whos grand-grandparents immigrated there from Italy, soo... Pizza is not that Fast Food Pizza, it´s a very serious thing! But I like both, it´s just a very different thing.

I believe I have dyspraxia I remember in grade school I would have my teachers use my handwriting assignments of what is not acceptable examples. I still can't wright. My first grade teacher tried unsuccessfully to get me to write with my right hand instead of my left. That caused meltdowns My parents had me put back into kindergarten and my next first grade teach was so lovely she always looked out for me

Just wanted to say, re sinus pressure/ pain - I used to get horrendous sinus headaches that would last for days, and I now use Sterimar Breathe Easy every day* (it’s literally just sterilised seawater that you squirt up your nose!) and it really helps keep the sinus pressure/ pain away.
* I’m aware this sounds like an advert! I honestly don’t have shares in Sterimar, & other brands are available!

Omg the refusing stuff you actually want is so relateable lol. I'm quite lucky in that the people I'm close to seem to know I do it, because they'll always ask a second time to make sure, for some reason I can then say yes. I don't know why 😂

I worked in Intensive Care Units. Any standard shift was 8-12 hours of being very close to a lot of strangers. That was never a problem for me. Angry, crying, bleeding, screaming, confused or getting too quiet? No problem.
But the break room... Wtf do I say? So, I was always the odd one out. Very good with patients and relatives, bc of my honesty. Very unpopular among staff, bc of my honesty.
I'm so very, very, very happy to get medical retirement.
