TYRANTULA OUTLINE (first draft)
Added 2019-06-09 03:00:20 +0000 UTCTo give you a better idea of what I have in store for TYRANTULA. Very very rough, so pardon the poor choice of words in some areas. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
"THE BIG IDEA"
The premise of the story is connecting humanity back to its spiritual roots among the gods. Most of the gods have been forgotten in modern areas, but in more wild areas, there lies a secret among the “uncivilized” nations. There seems to be something the beasts know that modern creatures have forgotten. There is a deep truth that runs deep into the planet, and outwards towards the stars. It is the main character’s quest to find these truths, and to seek answers from many different divinities.
It is a quest for ultimate sentience; for empathy and awareness. The character grows into a more loving mother-type as they progress through life. The character has an inner fire that cannot be put out. The character is naive and believes in the good of life. Eventually, the character learns that good and evil are artificial constructs and do not apply to the natural world. The character wonders why we fight so diligently against our nature. What is modern society turning these inhabitants into? Most are ignorant of the change and are swept along by strong pressure to conform among their peers, lest they be ignored and alone. Everything seems to be an act of rebellion, to see how far one can push the limits of control.
A lot of outcasts start appearing, and so begin to form their own social circle against the ruling minority, eventually ending in a sort of civil war in order to be heard. The main character breaks free of both factions in order to find their own path, and this is when they begin to progressively encounter more and more divine beings, learning important lessons with their friends along the way.
Each friend has an experience with deities, and are even accompanied by them along the journey. Some deities are only on-call when certain rituals are performed by certain friends.
The quest is to get folks to be more aware of their vision; to stop romanticizing petty human experience in place of god; to humble the hive. Unfortunately, on the main character’s journey, things have gotten a lot worse at home, and society is becoming insect-like. Society begins worshiping a mortal being, to which the god’s respond, “that is so silly. We can rule for a million years, keeping law and order in the chaos of life, and these creatures worship someone who will be dead before the century is over. Curious.”
The gods had become tainted by lies, power, and manipulation by the temples, which is why modern society no longer worships or gives praise to the gods, since they were used to manipulate and control the masses, usually by a power-hungry egoist. Now, society has to find something new to worship, without realizing it was their own brother who tainted their view the gods. The gods do not stop being holy no matter what society says of them. “We do what is in our purpose, anything more is a complication.”
