Happy Lunar New Year! Although I'm not physically with you all right now, I still wanted to send you all a quick little message on this day.

Growing up, I wasn't raised in the most stable environment, which meant that holidays were always a touchy subject for me. As a child, I found myself resorting to apathy, brushing off the excitement surrounding any holiday as frivolous. As a young adult, I still struggle to allow myself to be happy when holidays roll around, but this year is slightly different.

I'm abroad right now, celebrating Lunar New Year with family I hadn't seen in years. Being surrounded by their love and attention and the overall atmosphere this holiday brings, I can't help but feel hopeful towards the future. Going from dreading and feeling apathetic towards holidays to being surrounded by familial love and acceptance is all I ever wanted and I have you all to thank for that.

The Dragon symbolizes good luck, strength, and health, and since we are in the Year of the Dragon, I wish you all a bountiful, prosperous, and safe year. May the Year of the Dragon bring you boundless opportunities and exciting adventures!
