As far as I know, from all of my studies of mythologies, Hydes are not a species. It was 1 incident with Dr. Jekyll who was studying the duality of man and seeing if he could solve aggression/impulse/animal in man but, unintentionally, released pure aggression/impulse/animal instead. Thus his transformation into Mr. Hyde. The only other mythology i know of is the comic and movie of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen where Dr. Jeykll was recruited for a exceptional team of investigators and this version of Dr Jeykll could only transform with the help of the serum he created and had a large supply of it at all times. Someone stole a vile of it with the intent to create an army of Mr. Hydes. The last piece of lore could be the small cameo of sorts Mr. Hyde and Dr. Jeykll get in the film Van Helsing where we start the film with Van Helsing hunting Mr. Hyde to stop his rampaging. All additional lore mentioned here in Wednesday seems to be created right here with Tim Burton creating his own background lore with the through-line of the concept maintaining the lore of Hyde being a monstrous, destructive force that represents a suppressed or evil side of a person or being. However, I will say that if you expand the definition of idea of Hyde, you could argue the inclusion of the lore of The Hulk as a type of Hyde monster since its kinda of what he is based on. Dr Banner/Dr Jekyll, The Hulk/Mr. Hyde. Even the Wolfman is technically a version of the Dr Jeykll/Mr. Hyde story. Man's primal nature.
