Lessons of the movie: Gods don't exist, people are doofuses who cause the loss of lives not worth their petty reasons, even the good ones who believe in Gods.

First, the Trojan War was 10 years long and all these events, and the Iliad (which translates to Troy, btw), take place in the very last year of that war. Second, Agamemnon didn't die here. In the second writings of Homer, the Odyssey, Odysseus (Ulysses in latin) goes to visit Agamemnon before embarking on his 10 year journey home after Troy is defeated. Agamemnon does die on his journey home from Troy, however. Lastly, 3rd, the sacking of Troy isn't in the Iliad. The Iliad stops after Hector's funeral. The actual sacking of Troy, here, is based, loosely, on another book called Posthomerica (Things after Homer) and was written around 300 AD, about 1000 years after Homer lived and almost 1500 years after the actual sacking of Troy. Although the rating on Rotten Tomatoes is almost 50/50, it should be said that the director's cut got an 8 out of 10 for being better than the theatrical release.
