The first film is interesting, the second film has a twist that I find amazing involving who these kids actually are (most important of the 3 imho), the third I never saw. Maze Runner is also a series of books. The first 3 books are these movies, the next 2 books are a prequel story, and the following next 3 books are the sequel story (third book to be released this year), plus 2 companion books about spin-off stories. This came out in the shadow of the Hunger Games where adapting young adult dystopian book series into films was a big trend; the Divergent film series was another one around this time. Basically trying to ride the wave of success of the Lord of the Rings films; Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, and Chronicles of Narnia for example. Kinda messed up though, having the entire first film basically be the hook to get you to watch the second film, lol.
