Better Call Saul S6 Ep 8 | Full Length Reaction!

Hi everyone! EXCUSE THE UGLY CRYING PLEASE LOL I didn't think that this show could get any more heart wrenching... 😿 also sorry for the delay in posting Better Call Saul! A little explanation: the last episode absolutely devastated me (you know how I feel about that one character) and I needed a bit of a break. Especially knowing that this episode would be a continuation as well as solidifier in what happened in Episode 7 🥺

So thank you for joining me through this and for all the sweet comments, I'm happy to hear I wasn't alone in experiencing the story this way 🥲💔 I appreciate you guys.❣️

the realization that Howard was burried there under the whole Breaking Bad run... hits different

Lubino

I grew to love Howard too. Like Nacho, instead of breaking bad they both broke "good," as much as it was possible anyway. Howard starts out as the typical corporate lawyer rival, the foil to Jimmy, his opposite. Everything Howard did was in some way to antagonize Jimmy, taking away his first big career-making case, standing in his way regarding career by standing in his way of joining HMM, then by Jimmy helping Kim who had been demoted by Howard after losing the Kettlemans as clients, then Jimmy trying to help Kim again after she is blamed by Howard for the unauthorized commercial Jimmy made for Davis & Main, leading to Kim exiting the HMM firm. But there was always something about Howard, something personable, he shows some regret by telling Kim that Chuck was behind sabotaging Jimmy, even if Howard went along he later tries to make amends with Jimmy and try to make him join HMM. Then there is the guilt he was put through thinking his action led Chuck to suicide, when it was Jimmy who caused it by bringing to the attention of the insurers that Chuck had a mental breakdown. And Jimmy morbidly lets Howard believe it was all his fault. We saw what it did to Howard, we saw him try to better himself, we saw him go through therapy, we saw his naivete thinking a boxing match would fix things between him and Jimmy. Howard tells us he went through depression, was going through harsh marital problems on top of everything, and then the sick story Kim and Jimmy burdened on Howard's reputation, to destroy his career, even if they had a grudge there was no honor in the elaborate lie. Kim was first breaking the rules to help people, then she started to break the rules to fuck Howard over and to threaten people. And in his last scene, Howard tells us that he will try to work his way through it all and overcome it. And then......fucking Lalo shows up in the chat. Whatever Howard was as a person, if the viewer liked him or not, it is heartbreaking to see someone trying to better themselves and work hard at it, and to end up with such a twisted end. Great and powerful writing.

Wow V! You look absolutely depressed during this entire episode. Cheer up, tho. You know how it all ends in Breaking Bad. lol

Donovan Sparks

He was set up to be one of the antagonists in season 1 along with Nacho, but Michael McKean brought something to Chuck and his chemistry with Bob made them rewrite him to become Jimmy's chief antagonist early on, and help form how Jimmy will one day descend into Saul.

Saltire

Mike is worse, far far worse than Saul. He doesn't have a leg to stand on morally.

Saltire

Unfortunately they couldn't because of the bullet wound which would have aroused questions had he washed up. However, they could have disposed of him anywhere but there! He wasn't a part of their evil.

Saltire

Yet Mike was part of this disposal of Howard there. He was a hypocrite. Always taking the moral high ground when he has none whatsoever, and ends up in just the same way - though even better, he gets dissolved in hydrofluoric acid first. He's just as bad, and worse, than Goodman. He gets called out on it later as well (and from the big guy who worked with Werner), and I'm glad they include it too, to show just what a morally bankrupt person he truly is.

Saltire

After Walt and Jesse set the lab alight, Hank and Gomez are down there, sifting through the fire-damage, and its mentioned that two bodies were found. Now obviously they weren't thinking about this show when that line was said, and it would have been the two goons Walt shot before setting Jesse free; but that then also means, that even after all that, Howard was still never found.

Saltire

In many ways this episode is even more horrific than the previous one. Howard, like Chuck is left with his reputation in the dirt, being eternally interred with his psychopathic killer, Lalo; under that damn meth lab. He'll be remembered as a junkie good time lawyer, who took his own life, and will never be found. For things like this, Mike deserves his comeuppance through Walt, and he'll have the same fate, being dissolved in Hydrofluoric acid and buried somewhere in the desert. Good riddance. Kim and Jimmy deserve almost as much for this too, even if I personally adore Kim.

Saltire

It's really tragic how all this played out. This episode is probably in my top 5 favorites in this series, up there with Chicanery, Five-0, and some others. Wild how after seeing this, one can't ever look at Breaking Bad the same way ever again.

WarriorPoet1980

BCS introduced 5 new major characters that weren't in Breaking Bad: Kim, Chuck, Nacho, Howard and Lalo. As of this episode, only Kim remains. I'm really excited for the next ep. It's my personal favourite in the whole BB/BCS universe.

MichaelPhone

This show keeps getting better and better for each episode. Our emotional state, not so much 😅

Hope you're happy, Kim. I would've preferred Jimmy's childish, stupid pranks but Kim really had to outdo Jimmy by coming up with this elaborate scheme to really hurt Howard by ruining his reputation which led to Howard being at the wrong place, wrong time that got him killed by a psychopath. Nice Job, Kim...hope you're proud of your master plan and you remember it for the rest of your life. Jimmy is also partly to blame...he should've stuck to his initial instincts and should not have listened to Kim but he was so afraid of disappointing her that he went along with Kim's wicked scheme. I didn't like Howard but he didn't deserve this.

I think its okay that you took a break after the last episode. However, I for myself and I think a lot of the others would wish for a better communication in the future :)

One of the things that the producers teased about in the final season of Better Call Saul was that by the end of the show, fans would see Breaking Bad in a new way. Having two of the main characters in BCS buried underneath the meth lab in BB definitely changes how one views any BB rewatches. I watched this episode (and season) airing live on television with my brother. I'll never forget that day because it completely changed the trajectory of all characters in the show. It was such an impactful moment. When I think about this show, I think about how Howard didn't deserve the ending he got :( It's just a tragic story Also, for this season, after the end of each episode, there would be a digital poster-like photo official release of the next episode's name along with an object, or two, of importance in it. Point and Shoot was an ariel view of a tide coming in contact with a beach, along with a cockroach in the sand. You should check them out Wishing you all the love and comfort to help you get through this <3

You and Howard deserve better 😭😭

When I rewatched Breaking Bad after watching this series, every time they showed the lab, I thought, "Walter and Jesse and Gale have no idea that two bodies are buried right under where they are walking and cooking." Also, probably smart of Gus to decide to make the floor red when the lab was complete.

Damien Lupo

This is an amazing observation that I didn't fully catch onto - thank you so much for pointing that out for me - I wondered the same thing 🥺

VKunia

I completely understand what you're feeling:(((

I do wish that... 😭😭

This episode shows part of the reason why Mike and Saul are on bad terms in Breaking Bad. Mike has never liked it when innocent bystanders end up as collateral damage to the cartel violence, and even though he never says anything directly, you can see it in his face and mannerisms how much he hates that Howard met his end the way he did (especially in that closeup on his face as they're burying Howard), and it was all because of Saul Goodman.

Howard deserved so much better, he really grew on alot of people

I don't think we need to be very concerned about where Howard's body actually is. Howard will surely get a memorial service. Like, his life will most likely be honored by his loved ones once his car is found. The story that will most likely be created around his death shouldn't ruin his legacy, right? How many people will even hear about those particulars, really? His wife doesn't seem to like him very much but she will probably, at least, do the bare minimum for him; if not for him, then to put on a show so she's isn't accused of being involved in his death. It does happen that people are presumed dead without finding the body. The details are covered up but the same steps for grieving and moving on are usually still observed. Yes, his body was desecrated but it was by the cartel; people with a record of treating human life poorly. And he is just a body now. I've been in the medical field for a long time; I don't have much attachment to the flesh prisons we walk around in, lol. And philosophically, all characters of every fictional story end up dying because they cease to exist once a story ends, so...lol. This isn't very comforting is it? lol

Raptor

Also I need to see this hate you're getting for loving Howard. WHO DO I NEED TO BEAT UP?

panacamanana

I was going to say, you'll be wishing he was put in the sea by the end of this one. 😭

panacamanana

Howard is my absolute favorite character in the show. He was one of the only genuinely innocent characters in the show and in the end, got a fate even worse than Lalo. I never forgave Jimmy and Kim after that last episode. RIP Howard. 😭

Tim McCabe

As Better Call Saul was airing, one of the many questions fans had was why Mike treated Saul with such disgust in Breaking Bad. This episode was the answer. When he says to “tell the lie” they had been telling, you can see the anger in his face. Mike knew Howard was in no way involved in the criminal life and for Saul to destroy a man’s reputation (and consequently contribute to his death) for simple amusement permanently changed the way he viewed Saul.

It honestly took me a series of rewatches to really understand how Howard was how he was and I feel awful for misjudging him the first time

neez duts

Hamlindigo blue? More like Hamlindigo Blow Me! Jk R.I.P Howard I totally misunderstood you! o7

neez duts

Don't worry; the fandom similarly mourned him and Howard was my favorite character since season one other than Chuck, and then he became number one by the end; my profile picture was hamlindigo blue on twitter for many many months after last episode.
