Here is a prediction for you. I'm watching with you so I don't know any spoilers. What if one of the reasons the games exist, besides the rich people gambling and to give one person a bunch of money, is to give the psychopaths of society something to do? You know, how there are people out there that really want "The Purge" to happen? I bet all those mercenaries have tinnitus, lol. Only the bookie's henchmen had soundproof headphones on while everybody was doing target practice. Those are required safety gear at any shooting range for everyone, lol. I'm too desensitized to get anxious. These days I get into shows that have amazing writing and mystery, push the limits of censorship, break film and story telling norms, have dark humor, and explore deep philosophical questions of morality and existence that blur the lines, which is a fine edge to walk because a lot of shows can get too pretentious. Every moral has caveats for each person that borders hypocrisy. Every rule has an exception for each person when that person is confronted with it. You never until you've been tested. Everyone wants to believe they will be the hero of their own story, forgetting that they are the villains in the stories of others. Every person, at least once in their lives, feel that if the world just listen to them, then we all will be better off. Many villains do want to change the world for the better but their methods will often ruin many lives. Fear is easy to generate; its easy to hate, its easy to kill. Its harder to love and to trust and to forgive. Utopia feels like a lie, dystopia feels real. You have to understand your enemy in order to defeat them but most people refuse to understand the "other". Harder still is learning to love your enemy by walking a mile in their shoes but no one wants to leave their comfort zones. These are the mental gymnastics I love, the character developments that stick with you.
