There's nothing disturbing about gore. it's just special effect makeup and plastic/plaster/latex/CGI. Meaningless physical things representing dead people. The stuff people do in this movie to other people so nonchalantly is the disturbing part.

2024-11-06 11:31:45 +0000 UTCInteresting, cause I feel the same :D It has some nice cinematography but ultimately I feel like the movie took a wrong turn after like the first 10 minutes into something very dull and predicatble.

2024-10-14 23:17:50 +0000 UTCSo... I felt this was massively over-hyped and not particularly disturbing (sledgehammer aside). I'm going to watch it again this week alongside Vee's reaction as I'm probably missing stuff.

2024-10-13 07:56:08 +0000 UTCYes, I was perhaps a bit harsh blaming the difference on her success.
AdrianF
2024-10-13 07:55:09 +0000 UTCThats your opinion, and I respect it, but I think that Cassie is sweet, innocent and genuine. Vee is so open and sensitive and I love her goofy jokes. I will defend them both until the end of time and beyond

2024-10-12 16:04:53 +0000 UTCCassie is a transformed by money reactor. If V gets to be that, she'll lose a load. Cassie was great at first, now? Not so much.

2024-10-12 15:53:19 +0000 UTCI'm only an hour so in. Go and watch Resolution. It's a better-made movie.

2024-10-12 15:52:01 +0000 UTCThe "point" of horror movies? Lol. Every counter is recency bias. Its not as good as you think just because you "had an experience" when you watched it. This film is about xenophobia and trusting foreigners/people with different religious choices. Ask people in Nordic countries how they feel about this film. At least Wickerman used a non-discript island with isolated settlers that TURNED into a cult. Films like this feed your delusional fears of "the other". Those of us that aren't afraid of people from other countries or other religions can see through this film. It's Wickerman 2.0, lol.

2024-10-09 10:56:32 +0000 UTCWell, you have completely missed the point of this horror film. But I don't blame you. You want something nice and simple. Good one beats bad one. JUMP SCARE! This film didn't rely on jump scares or slashers or stupid monster/supernatural shit. This film is a psychodrama, which certainly hits me the hardest. It's like if a film maker asked you ""what is your biggest fear?" and, as an adult, you didn't say "a great big mean monster eats me!" and instead said "My whole family died in an instant, I have a gaslighting partner, and now I'm forced to re-witness death firsthand, in a land I'm unfamiliar with and cant escape from." THAT is horror film making in the current age. And, it's nothing like making fun of the Amish. It IS like making fun of cults. Because, they exist everywhere and say in the USA we should know a bit about that at this point.

2024-10-09 05:56:34 +0000 UTCBut we don't presume they did. This is fantasy. WTF? Nothing IRL is being made fun of. Judging horror by it's real life likelihood? Odd choice. Plus, the draw of this film is the character. The horror elements are just the frosting and sprinklers, so to speak. Dani is going through so much more than just the character in The Wickerman. She's why people are drawn in. If her trauma and realistic portrayal of grief panic attacks weren't included, the film would be pretty boring.

2024-10-06 21:25:53 +0000 UTCVicky, i did some research and this cult isn't based on any real one . There is an event such as this but nothing like this. it's fun. If Cassie ever did a reaction to this , she'd be traumatized. I heard this movie was horrible, so i never watched it, but i loved it. I hope this didn't give u nightmares. I've been watching horror movies since i was 14, so its hard to find a movie that really disturbs me .But its like Stephen King said " Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too, They live inside of us, and sometimes they win."

2024-10-04 11:46:39 +0000 UTCWhat the heck? We just let these people into NATO. Apparently this thing has a Director's cut with 21 more minutes. What could they have possibly left out?

2024-10-04 04:21:51 +0000 UTCSaw it once, not interested. Doesn't deserve the hype. I've seen way too many films to be surprised by this film. At this point, films like this, to me, are just poking fun at traditional village types. Its like making fun of the Amish. Like yeah, they probably will never see or hear about it but that makes it kind of trite, doesn't it. Plus human sacrifices didn't happen nearly as much as we like to presume they did. Eh, there's audience for this, i guess, but it ain't me anymore, lol. Besides, its a rip-off of Wickerman, just for today's youngin's, lol.

2024-10-02 20:38:56 +0000 UTCI watched this in the cinema and I met a few mates afterwards and they said I was pale when I came out of the cinema

2024-10-02 11:17:59 +0000 UTCAt the beginning in Dani's room there's a big painting of a little girl and a bear, and there's also a picture of a bear on fire in one of the cabins Christian is looking at 🐻

2024-10-02 07:12:50 +0000 UTCThe vibe of this movie is purely what the fuck lol

2024-10-02 02:50:20 +0000 UTCOur friend psilocybin binds to the 5-HT2A receptor in the brain, which does all manner of alteration to your mood, perceptions, and cognition, but the effects can be very subjective from person to person. A little bit goes a long way with this sort of stuff. If you watch carefully during that sequence you can see the edges of surfaces, like the shack, waver, as if straight things don't want to stay straight, so yeah, that's a common effect.

2024-10-02 00:31:38 +0000 UTCOh no. I haven't watched your reaction yet but I gotta feeling I'm gonna watch you get traumatized. Are you going to watch Hereditary as well? That one was even more traumatic for me.

2024-10-01 23:18:54 +0000 UTCI love this movie. I saw it in IMAX earlier this year. The cinematography. The production design. The editing. It's a slow burn cranks the heat in the final act.

2024-10-01 22:48:37 +0000 UTCI've been afraid of rewatching this movie. I watched it having no prep or warning during a twitch watch party. The opening felt too real and scary for me since it happened just after I lost my stepfather. Something about the shots and way it was filmed (the green and red lighting!) made me not want to ever see that intro again, but I think it's time for me to face that fear now. Plus, it was my first introduction to Florence Pugh, whom I actually haven't seen that much of or have a desire to seek out her films, but have really enjoyed in everything I've seen her in so far.
