Comments

Kevin is right, Kim can do so much better than Saul - she could be Empress of The World if she wanted, yet sticks to that piece of shit, because he excites her and brings out her darker side. The cinematography is excellent in the last few scenes. First there is a damp spot on the roof as Saul stands up and its like its ebbing into him, like some black ooze, showing the path he is going on. For a few brief moments, he dwells on whats about to happen, that he will be responsible for not enacting justice, and will let a senior cartel member get off scot free. It quickly passes however and he goes ahead to get Lalo bailed. Then we see that funny shot with the glossed wall, showing two sides of Saul's face, not quite matching; perhaps representing the split in his personality now and how there is something off with it; and to solidify that thought, Howard shows up and Saul unleashes onto him, showing where his mental state is at.

You are braindead and entitled as fuck

For now, we'll have to agree to disagree.

Yes he's no saint but he turned around as a person and what Jimmy did to him is much much worse.

This episode felt more like a transition episode than anything else, to me. Like, just a moving of the pieces on the board so everyone is in the right place for the climax. Even in greatly written shows you're gonna have a couple episodes that are mostly cleaning up a few loose ends, answering some questions, tying up surprises from the previous episodes in a more toned down way (like the marriage proposal, lol) so the climax is that much more engaging. Nothing really wrong with that. Writers are on deadlines and even they can paint themselves into a corner every now and then. Got to do a 'maintenance' episode to re-adjust the placement of characters when that happens.

Hi V. I love watching you watch this show, and others too, but I can't for the life of me understand why you like Howard. He's a total douchebag and was from the very start. He screwed Jimmy over every chance he got. True, we eventually discovered that it was really all Chuck behind it, but he could've said NO! He could've said, I think your brother is a hard worker (Charlie Hustle) and a smart lawyer . . . but he didn't. He just did whatever Chuck wanted at Jimmy's expense. He told Jimmy they wouldn't hire him as a lawyer after he passed the bar, and then took a piece of his cake just to add insult to his injury. He told Jimmy they wanted the Sandpiper case, just not him. Yes, again, at Chuck's doing, but Howard was managing partner so, in the end, it was his call. Douchebag! If Howard had simply manned up, there may never have been a Saul Goodman, and then there may have never been a Heisenberg. Furthermore on the douchebag front, when Howard offered (to Kim on Jimmy's behalf) for Jimmy to rummage through dead Chuck's garage for whatever, pretending to be nice, Kim said it best. "Did you offer the same thing to Rebecca?!" Howard confessing his woes to Jimmy for his guilt over Chuck's death on the day of Jimmy's brother's funeral, just so HE (Howard) could feel better? Triple douchebag. I could go on and on. And then, Howard finally offering Jimmy, Charlie Hustle, a job when HMM is going down the tubes, again just to make himself feel better, sorry but . . . why do you like this prick? Keep up the good work, V.

It's ILLEGAL to show the whole series. Vkunia doesn't own this TV-show so of course she can't show it. And this is cheap, this must be your first time seeing a reaction channel.

Los Pollos Hermanos will be rebuilt! In the meantime, be sure to check out the Employee Training video series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9RgougnhiE&list=PL4XYugONL7lZovnsdYCwehreahGVRkrfc&index=10&ab_channel=BreakingBad%26BetterCallSaul (you could even do a separate video just watching these, seriously they're gold)

I would just say in addition to all this, Howard shows up here at a moment when Jimmy is already feeling emotionally torn about his role in what’s happening to that family. When Jimmy is more in control, he funnels the emotions you mentioned through elaborate, secretive pranks. But here, Howard catches Jimmy with his guard down and already feeling defeated. Jimmy just doesn’t have it in him to keep up the act, or play whatever games he’s been playing. It’s probably the first time he’s ever actually felt *cornered* by Howard, and he lashes out as a result.

Vkunia, what ever that means, you are charging double what you should because of what you have to offer. Other creators find a way not to have their patrons do all the work running down the content for themselves. Oh, it's certainly a good deal for you, no wonder you seem so happy all the time. SUCKERS!

Michael Hartsell

As for the ending, Jimmy's explosive rant came about for several reasons.. a) Jimmy has always hated Howard - pre-season 1 because he thought Howard was the one refusing to hire him, post season 1 because he saw him as Chuck's puppet. b) Jimmy only ever cared about HHM because it was Chuck's firm, without Chuck the job is just another set of constraints like Davis & Main. c) Howard is a living reminder of Chuck, who Jimmy is desperately trying to escape from (I think changing his name from Jimmy McGill Esquire to Saul Goodman is part of that, not simply a business tactic like he claims, he wants to move on from Chuck's shadow). d) Howard only offering Jimmy a job after Chuck dies re-affirms Jimmy's view that Howard was a weak puppet, easily manipulated by Chuck, and as we've seen in 4x02 when Jimmy refuses a job he conned his way into, he resents for the easily manipulated (potentially because of how easily he was manipulated by Chuck in the past). And most importantly e) Jimmy refuses to deal with the grief of losing his brother. He refused to go to therapy and was all too happy when Howard shouldered the blame for Chuck’s death and was falling apart. Now, Howard is in a good place, having worked on his issues with a professional. He is no longer blaming himself for Chuck’s death, which means that guilt has to go somewhere. Jimmy doesn’t think it’s fair that Howard gets to be “ok” while Jimmy wrestles with his unresolved grief. Howard’s job offer is viewed as an expression of pity—like a table scrap thrown to a dog. Jimmy hates Howard’s success and the fact that this guy is in a position to offer Jimmy something he has wanted for so long. ETA: Jimmy’s speech to the girl who didn’t get the HHM scholarship is very revealing about the source of his anger and desperation.

Joe Lazarus

I took it as she couldn’t keep up the facade any longer and pretend to be angry— so she caved and revealed herself. At heart Kim’s just like Jimmy she’s just great at keeping people at a distance and hiding herself. Jimmy is great at hiding his actual skills which makes people underestimate him— Kim is underestimated cause people assume her hands are always clean. People thought Jimmy was corrupting her— but really he was just tapping into who she really was and she was fighting against letting him see the real her— the girl from a poor family with a drunk mother and small downtrodden prospects. Remember when Jimmy teased her with the beer bottle? She threw that thing without a care. That’s the real her she’s a badass AND I think Kim married Jimmy cause underneath the "legal protection" facade she’s in love with him and Jimmy with Kim.. it's so obvious. They've had each other's back since the beginning of the show. She's known Jimmy for 12 years at that point. She really doesn't want their relationship to end, but the one thing that most upset her about that incident was the fact that Jimmy blindsided her and didn't let her know what was going to happen beforehand. It is the same exact reason why she was so shaken at the end of season 4 after Jimmy's speech about his brother's letter. She is okay with (and even enjoys) scamming, but only if she's not the one being made "the sucker" (this terminology is used very deliberately throughout the show).

Joe Lazarus

regarding "this has nothing to do with their relationship, this is all about work" disagree. This allows them to continue their relationship without Kim being overly worried about being implicated or compelled to incriminate herself
