🐈‍⬛Dark/Horror Movie Poll!🦇🖤

Hi everyone! So as you know, October is my ✨FAVORITE✨ month of the year, with Halloween being my favorite holiday 🥰 so to get ready for the fall season a bit early - I'm dropping some more modern Dark/Horror movie options on you guys!!

I lovelovelooooveee the genre and can't wait to get into the spooky spirit this year 👻🎃🦇🍬

These are just some films I either ..
A.) have been dying to see,
B.) Have had recommended to be orrrrr...
C.) Saw in passing and it had a pretty good rating (which is rare for horror lately LOL)

These aren't the usual classic horror movies we typically go for - so expect the next poll to contain more of the classics - so don't worry if you don't enjoy this sub-genre!! (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)

Don't forget to drop your recommendations as well comments down below! Can't wait to see what you guys want to experience together. 🖤🐈‍⬛🕸️

Comments

Definitely the descent, it also has a part 2

Issac Martinez

I think the Spielberg War of the Worlds counts as a horror movie ( I saw it in the theater as a kid and it really freaked me out). It’s been getting more attention lately so you might want to check it out.

RX-1

Oh I see. Wasn't aware of a "Part 1"

mikethemotormouth

They recently did a remake called The Strangers Part 1 and it was pretty bad. I was asking if she meant that one or the original

DarkHorse

Saw it for the first time myself last night. I really admire the ending that they went for, in the same way that I really love the ending to The Mist. Other than that, don't have anything good to say about it and cannot throw my support behind it.

mikethemotormouth

I would like to add "Splice" to this list. Very good horror movie.

Leeland

Attack the block and the host are very good.

Leeland

One of my all time favorite shows, not just including horror. Amazing story.

smi11783

If you havnt already you should check out the conjuring universe of movies they were solid!

leisurous

Someone else already mentioned it, but I also have to throw my weight behind The Haunting of Hill House. It’s not just the best horror story, but genuinely the best thing I’ve ever seen on television. I believe it was voted best Netflix original not long ago. It’s a 10-part miniseries so I appreciate we may have to wait for the schedule to free up somewhat, but please do consider it.

Liam Vale

If Midsommar wins check to see what version most people have access too, theatrical or director's cut

Matt

The 94 crow could be a fun Halloween one, its more of a gothic love/revenge story but it all transpires around Halloween

Rey

Would watch any except the descent underground, caves and stuff are my worst fear and that movie effed me up so as it's winning guess I'm skipping this one sorry vee I just can't 😱😱

Ian

A miniseries, not a film, but The Haunting of Hill House still reigns supreme as my favorite work of horror EVER. Absolutely astounding masterpiece. Highest possible recommendation.

Jesus

I haven't seen any of these so I'm winging my vote

Erik Vazquez

you should check out a movie called "As Above, So Below" it is a really great scary movie that would make a great reaction. Also Saw is a great scary movie that everyone should watch every Halloween and would also make a great scary movie reaction. Thanks for the great content!

Baron

I'm so glad I checked back after voting and Decent is winning. Decent is so good. Midsommer is overrated. It's basically Wicker Man. The Witch is just okay. I know way too much actual history to be impressed by it. I am one of the weird ones that likes The Village, lol. I like M. Night's movies.

Raptor

Not exactly sure what you're referring to but I voted for the 2008 movie with Liv Tyler

mikethemotormouth

The Strangers if you mean the original. This remake they did was kinda...bad.

DarkHorse

The Witch and the descent are my choices for this one. I also see Pearl on the list. You should watch X before Pearl if you haven't seen it. For recommendations: Attack the Block Noroi the Curse The Host 2006 Night of the Creepers

Jeremy Bassi

Ohhh the black & white Night of the Demon - good call!!

Mauler

Bone Tomahawk 2015 is another great Western/ Horror

Matt

Is the witch 2019 supposed to be the 2015 film The vvitch?

Matt

I feel the same way about Midsommar. Like Gone Girl, I was thinking about it for weeks after

mikethemotormouth

Suspiria (1977) is far superior. More messed up stuff though that I dont want to say in remake so there is that lol. Anything Dario Argento 70s-80s worth watching. He kinda lost his groove in the late 80s-90s. What blows my mind is the lack of his best film IMO Phenomena (1985). Jennifer Connelly's first lead role I think even before Labyrinth. Has influenced a lot in media mainly outside of America like video games with Clock Tower. Giallo gerne(horror, slasher, psychological thriller style) isnt for everyone but has its gems. His style might be fun to try as its horror unlike others.

Spawncalibur

The Descent should be winning.

Greg S.

Would depend on what scares you the most V — the witch is honestly just gratuitous nudity and sexual perversion :) but idk

Chishiya

It's not bad. I prefer the atmosphere of The Strangers to the jumpscares of The Descent

mikethemotormouth

The Ritual is probably the best film on there overall as it's not only a descent into horror/terror but it has a solid emotional backbone too. The Descent is also very good and I say that as someone who has been caving and Noped out halfway as I'm 6ft lol

Mauler

Agree with mikethemotormouth, the 1977 one was better. Very few horror directors can live up to peak Dario Argento.

Kthulhu

Green Room is surprisingly brutal and Patrick Stewart makes for a terrifying bad guy!

Mauler

The vvitch is so good

Rey

I picked 2 I think YOU will like. I have to see The Witch so I'll line that up in case it wins. The rest (those I didn't pick but saw) are kind of meh for me. Hey, now that'd be a great scary horror film, eh? THE MEH. About a virus that turns everyone into really boring people with opinions. AAAH!!! My favorite October movie is Britain's 1957 chiller NIGHT OF THE DEMON, which bloody here no ones probably seen, but it's very very All Hallows Eve Halloweeny. ❤️

Robert Jewell

I have only seen the witch, so I'm not going to vote in an attempt to expand my horizons. I only know classic horror up until 2000. Take the wheel experts!

Brian's Dog

Seconding Barbarian

mikethemotormouth

Yeah it's OK. 77 is better

mikethemotormouth

😳😳 it's that good??

VKunia

I was gonna do 2018:)

VKunia

I've watched Coraline before but Beetlejuice would be a good one!!:))

VKunia

Green Room 2015 Mandy 2018 Barbarian 2020

Matt

Also Goodnight Mommy(2014) is missing 😢

mikethemotormouth

The descent is the scariest one on the poll

Chishiya

I feel like — this movie was meant to be unsettling to Christians, but if I watched it was an atheist I’m not sure it’s scary :/ maybe I need to rewatch

Chishiya

This is a great list, I'm not a big horror fan but I do like most of these

Matt

The VVitch is a slow burn, but worth it.

Tom W.

Is this 1977 or 2018 Suspiria?

mikethemotormouth

Aw damn, I wish Psycho 2 from 1983 was on here, it’s such a good underrated sequel!

Tyler Gorash

You should add Coraline and beetlejuice to a future October poll!
