Interesting realization I just had. For those of you who realized that Nacho's friend Domingo is also Walter White's first murder Crazy 8 (sorry you hadn't picked up on it, Vee): Walter and Jesse knew that Crazy 8 had to be killed or he and other drug lords would come after them. BUT, what they didn't know was that it would've been way easier because (what we didn't know in Breaking Bad) was that Domingo/Krazy 8 was an FBI informant. All he had to do was call Saul who would call Hank, and Hank would arrest Heisenberg. End of the BB series before it even got started. True, Walt wasn't Heisenberg yet, but he WAS the guy making the blue meth. 2 phone calls and Walt is done. Food for thought, right?

2024-08-20 22:57:32 +0000 UTCAlso Vicky idk if you were thinking that saul was trying to scam them out of more money at the beginning, cause if that's the case - he wasn't. He was trying to high ball them to make it seem like a crappy option to use saul because he doesn't wanna do it

2024-08-20 20:26:14 +0000 UTCI like that. I hadn't seen many ideas before on the meaning of that shot and I thought, similar to Vee, that it was just meant to be a nice shot. A director with a particular vision that thought this would make a visually stunning cold open but that would be mostly it. But yeah, I like that interpretation. Still unclear what that first ant was meant to symbolize that climbed the cone like it was Mount Everest.

2024-08-20 15:03:43 +0000 UTCSo the girls in Nacho's place are "house hoes". Every dealer at Nacho's level has to keep up appearances. These ladies are usually junkies but well kept junkies. They get free food, free beds, free drugs, and sometimes gifts for doing a good job. In return they keep the place clean and managed, and do whatever the owner of the place wants when they want it; including "entertaining" guests if Nacho says so. Why they do it, well, to each their own really. If you're going to be a junkie then its better than the street. Some ladies have it tougher than others, depending on the owner. For instance, if it was Tuco running things...well, I'm sure you can imagine how he might treat them. Nacho is growing a sense of humanity so, atm, we don't see a lot of mis-treatment (besides enabling them, of course). Its a mutual situation. I'm sure Nacho gives a crap about them, but they are not Nacho's girlfriends in the way most people see relationships. And why have more than one; in case one is out of it or runs off, he's got a spare. As for the particular girl trying to clean the inside of the remote; meth is an upper and makes people hyper focused but incapable of controlling that focus. It also hyper stimulates the skin, often to the point of making you feel like you have bugs crawling underneath it (in truth, its just being hyper sensitive to air currents stimulating the hairs on your skin and slight movements your muscles make that you don't even notice anymore because they happen so frequently). Cleaning is often a meth-addict's go to busy work but as you can see, it is taken to extremes. Nacho gave her a jigsaw puzzle for 2 reasons. It replaces the attention to something less destructive and the sensation on the shapes of the pieces are also a stimulation for her senses, in that moment. She is deep within her own senses and super "in the moment". So yes, kid toys are perfect because, mentally, she is in a mental state similar to how a child's mind and senses work. Over-stimulated with senses, our brain ignores things now at this age because it happens so often, and would take our attention away from the things we do focus on. For instance, that legendary sound proof room; people say you can hear your own heartbeat. The sound of it, and nothing else, gets deafening. Infants can hear the sounds their body makes because those are the closest things stimulating their senses. Combine it with all the external sensory information and its no wonder infants are over-whelmed with information and often look completely bewildered, lol. Her brain is over-whelmed because she is in sensory overload. So kid toys work on her. And as for being able to do what Kim did when getting in Mr. Acker's face. Kim knows her law and knows how this will play out. There are sooo many legal cases you review and study before becoming a lawyer. So many examples of stubborn clients holding on to personal values in the face of legal contracts. Additionally, law is a boy's club. Women get raked over the coals for trying to be a lawyer and most people let it go because if you can't stand up to chauvinistic dickheads in your class or as peers, then how are you going to fight for your clients and against the opposition/judges. She's practiced, experienced, and is being confronted with an old codger with fantasies that he alone can beat a bank (which he might if the media gets involved, that's the only way to beat big businesses). Its similar to wanting to smack a conspiracy theorist into reality and get them to wake up to their stupidity; especially when you know the material like the back of your hand. It comes from frustration of wanting people to see the truth but refusing it and disrespecting you at the same time. Honestly, most bull-headed people want people to react to them like Kim did. They take it as proof that they are winning because they think you are panicking, instead of seeing that you care and want them to succeed with the rest of us. But then we come to the philosophical crossroads of: does a majority's view of success even look like success to those few dissenters and is it the majority's responsibility to change the minds of the few?

2024-08-20 11:53:17 +0000 UTCI really like the shot when Nacho's dad comes to visit him. This low-light shot creating a dark silhouette of both characters; it's like they're both a shadow of what they once were. Nacho being in this deep, and his father not approving of the life his son is living. And that line near the end when Nacho says to Saul; "it's not about what you want. When you're in, you're IN." Nacho is obviously speaking from experience there.

2024-08-20 08:34:54 +0000 UTCI also feel like them throwing bottles at the end is very metaphorical, as it starts with Jimmy teasing to drop one then Kim just says screw it and starts throwing them
Matt
2024-08-20 08:31:17 +0000 UTCLove how the ice cream could be a metaphor for Saul getting in with the cartel, once it hits the ground it just gets swarmed and starts melting, like Nacho says once your in.. your IN.
