Chloe Grace Moretz and Nic Cage is the duo I didn't know I needed! They killed it in this film. She also learnt how to use those butterfly knives for real, you can see her playing them in interviews

2024-08-09 21:20:48 +0000 UTCChloe Grace Moretz blew up after this film. As much as I love this film, real nerve damage and recovery isn't like this, lol. Nerve damage is more than no pain receptors. You lose mobility because the brain can't send singles to move through the damaged nerves. After a year, I still have numb spots in my hand and my mobility in my fingers and wrist are at about 90% with physical therapy. And that just from one broken arm. Kick-Ass broke his whole body. And nerve pain is different from muscle, bone, and blood pressure pain. Like nerve pain requires different meds than like the opioid types that people usually take for pain. So he can still feel pain, just his skin is numb based on how they describe what happen to him and well he can still move around. His bones are reinforced with all the metal. And he would have massive scars from the surgery, in order to put all that metal inside him. Kick-Ass 2 is more like Hitgirl's story. I enjoyed it but its a squeal and its not the kind of squeal that 'blows the first one out of the water' type.

They are *so* much fun!

2024-08-09 12:23:39 +0000 UTCThe Big Daddy voice Nic is doing is based on Adam Westโs Batman from the 60s TV show and movie. Heโs definitely my highlight for this movie. When heโs burning and still doing the voice and giving her instructions, itโs so good. The same director, Matthew Vaughn, made a movie called Kingsman based on a different comic by the same writer. Itโs kind of a James Bond parody. Very fun. Iโd also recommend the Nicolas Cage movie Pig if you want something completely different. Itโs truly incredible.

The cast is great, but things which happened in the story didn't quite sit right with me. Not a terrible movie, good set pieces, but some story beats which I didn't find fun and enjoyable enough.

Also Katie Dolma looking very similar to a girl I had a crush on at the time this movie came out, but my brain puts Hitgirl slightly higher due to badassery. Sometimes respect of badassery in a person/character ranks higher than "oh this girl is so pretty or I like her so much". Example: Ellen Ripley has all of our hearts in Aliens... But Vasquez...... SO BADASS. The young(or maybe just short? I can't remember) martial artist kid who did most of Hitgirl's insane stunts was particularly badass. Check out the behind the scenes of the fight choreography and other stuff of this film. Bonus for this movie is I have it on Blu-ray, so no shitty stream buffering low res picture quality on this particular reaction watch. Woo!
