I won't spoil anything but I LOVE lights plan here, it is one of the most genius things I've ever seen for a show, he is so clever and works everyone around him to his goals. I also love the massive contrast between light who has the death note and pre-kira light who was just a normal smart kid, the death note severely corrupted him and brought out the worst that was buried deep within. And don't worry! I don't think you missed anything, it's just one of those situations where you gotta wait through it and let it explain itself as it goes on
