Better Call Saul Season 4 Episode 5 | Full Length Reaction!
Added 2024-06-26 23:01:17 +0000 UTCThe title of this video hits deep on so many levels and was a very moving and symbolic episode. I feel like we now have full understanding of what each character is facing, and going through (for the most part). :( The scene with Howard really broke my heart and made me so sad... let me know if you guys felt the same way watching this episode or if anything else stuck out to you!!

This is a slow episode, but it says so much about where the characters are, and where they are heading as you say V. Especially Jimmy. We see him at the start, as the shit really hit the fan and he's going on the run, and throughout this episode, see some of the steps he's undertaking, that will lead to that point. And I like the brief scene with Howard at the end; as we see he is going through it, isn't sleeping and is talking to a psychiatrist, which is bringing up everything that has happened in the last few years, and how he feels guilty about Chuck. He is going through hell currently, but in the end will come through it. Jimmy however sees this, doesn't want to go through all of that, so represses everything, and buries it; so he ramps up his scamming to keep himself busy, and is on the path to becoming Saul.

2024-06-27 18:00:17 +0000 UTCJimmy was already generally hesitant to talk to a therapist but I think after his encounter with the three "delinquents", for lack of a better word, I think he actually seriously considered it again. He was kind of ready to look inward. But I think his encounter with Howard gave him an excuse to think "ah well, therapists are useless, just as I always thought" and move on. He might even think Howard seeing a therapist is part of what caused him to be this messed up which is of course nonsense but it could be part of a wrong-headed interpretation of correlation; cleary troubled people like Howard are the ones who see therapists, therefore it must be the therapists that are the problem. As to Kim, I don't think it's really helping the "youth" as such that is her goal, I think it's more in general just helping people, actual people who deserve it. Since she can pretty much pick and choose her cases, she might be looking at people that she thinks are getting a particularly unfair treatment in relation to what they did and also people who have a genuine chance of turning their life around; I doubt she would bother with "hopeless" cases. But of course, that description would include a lot of young people in trouble for some stupid but ultimately non-malicious offenses like vandalism or drug possession. But I'm doubtful she would offer to defend young people like the ones Jimmy defended in the pilot just because they're the "youth".

2024-06-27 05:16:37 +0000 UTCBro insomnia is the worst. That feeling when the sun is coming up and you have to start getting ready. Then the shakes, cold sweat, nausea. Just like Howard, would not wish it on my worst enemy

2024-06-27 04:00:31 +0000 UTCHere's how I interpret that bathroom scene where Jimmy/Saul tears up the piece of paper with the psychiatrist's info on it after talking to Howard. I think, if I try to look at this through Jimmy's eyes; like imagine if he were to say this out loud in a scene to someone like Mike or something hypothetically- I think what Jimmy was thinking was "well, if Howard is seeing a therapist that's GOOD, twice a week, and he still can't sleep, this would be a waste of my time." So he dumps his therapist's info in the toilet. That's just how I see Jimmy's train of thought here. Obviously, this is very flawed logic and short-sighted, but in a way, it kind of fits Jimmy/Saul's character. Just my interpretation though.

2024-06-27 01:40:14 +0000 UTCThe beginning of this episode is really poignant. The panic Saul has when he's trying to escape is right around the time Hank died and Walt is being hunted by the police after leaving. Everything is falling apart and it's crazy to see just how much of a force of chaos Walt was. Saul was probably looking for easy money when he partnered with him, but he never could've seen just how demented Walt would get, and how far his greed would go. Of course, he took that risk when becoming a criminal lawyer in rhr first place, but still to see the events brought on by Walt and how they effect Jimmy so damn hard is pretty sad. Poor Howard is just going through it. Feeling guilt over the death of a friend is just such a powerful force. And you hit it right on the head, V. Jimmy does feel the same grief, but he's willingly pushing all the feeling down. That might work for a time, but Chucks death effects him just as much internally, he's his brother for God's sake. But the decadence and greed with climbing the ranks until he becomes Saul made for a good distraction to him so he doesn't have to pay attention to his true feelings.

2024-06-27 01:03:39 +0000 UTCThe reason why the first contractor was so quickly dismissed was because he didn't hesitate to tell about his previous secret and illegal jobs, including the location of it. Therefore, Gus cant be certain that he wont blabber about their secret lab to whoever he goes to work for next. You can even see it in Mikes subtle expressions and the way he says "That's what I thought" when he answers the phonecall from Gus, the frenchman talks too much to be involved in this. Atleast that's how I took it.
