I went into this movie with my expectations not too high since I didn't think I'd really enjoy Remy or the concept all too much - but lemme TELL YA I was pleasantly surprised and loved EVERY. SINGLE. CHARACTER. It was such a cute wholesome movie - I can't wait to share my experience with you. ✨🧑🍳🐀🍲

2024-07-25 04:14:31 +0000 UTCHere's the skinny on french cuisine. For a long time, decades (due to the lack of the internet), french cuisine was presumed to be, in the states, as the most fancy and perfect cuisine in the world, and the idea of Paris, France as the most romantic city in the world definitely contributed. Julia Childs made french cuisine very popular in America, in the 70's-90's, by de-mystifying it but also by making it accessible to everyone. Julia Childs loved cooking but was terrible at it. She traveled the world trying to find chefs that would train her but their techniques were incredibly difficult for her learn. They were too causal and creative for her to get the hang of. French cuisine and pastries are incredible difficult to make because they are precise at every stage. But that was exactly what Julia wanted to learn. She wanted exact instructions. Similar to a technical musician versus a soulful one. After becoming a perfect technical french chef, she wrote a cookbook, The Joy of Cooking and got a cooking show and became the most famous American chef for housewives bringing french cuisine to the average dinner table. Today, pretty much french pastries are the still the most incredible of pastries (very difficult to make right) and french cooking is great but now the world knows that every where there is great food. Plus, many dishes today are a blend of styles. Notice Remy was voiced by the wonderful nerd, Patton Oswald? This is one of biggest roles he got at the time that wasn't comedy and got him noticed as a more capable actor. And yes, you can go to a restaurant and say, "I'll have what they're having." Lol, example, you see a famous person eating and you respect their opinion, so you'd like to try what they're eating; or someone at a restaurant is loudly saying what they're eating is incredible, you can say I'll have what their eating. French style films are wonderful. I've recommended a few: City of Lost Children, Amelie, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Eyes without a Face (that's a horror film), Dark City is a Noir film popularized by the french, Portrait of a Lady on Fire. Good french style food films; Chocolat, Julie and Julia, and The Taste of Things. Persepolis is credited as the greatest animated french film. Wonderful animated films with rats or mice; The Secret of Nimh, American Tail, and the sequel Fievel Goes West. A Pixar squeal "Ratatwoille" is supposedly coming in November.

2024-06-15 14:46:28 +0000 UTCI forgot all the weird moralizing about stealing they do in this movie lol. What are the rats supposed to do, pay for the food they take? Don't know who at Pixar thought this was an important moral to include. It was also completely irrelevant to the plot. Just weird.
