I felt like there was so much information to take in and by the end, when you're sitting there processing everything you just witnessed - IT ALL BEGINS TO CLICK EVEN MORE. I feel like that's part of the beauty (other than the stunning visuals and sound design) of this film. It leaves you THINKING about it, analyzing each scene, interaction, bit of dialogue. It was truly an amazing film and LEAVES YOU WANTING MORE..
ps I had to get in the spirit of Dune somehow LOL

Towards the end, the thing you were trying to see with the Ants on it was the Baron's body. He reminded Chani at the end that He loves her as long as he breathes, because he wanted to remind her that what he was about to do, wasn't meaningful. He has to marry the Emporers daughter because the future he see's depends on it. Everything he does is for a reason. Even though he knows what it will do to her. But he has to. The change of Chani for this film is fantastic, because in the book she kinda becomes a background character and just becomes the bearer of his children. WIth this change in the film, she stays true to herself and has a much stronger character. The next movie will be based on the book Dune: Messiah and I think starts 10 years later. But with the big changes they made with Pauls Sister and Chani, idk if they do the book beat for beat.

2024-06-11 06:00:50 +0000 UTCThe best part about this series is how it toes the line of what is actual prophecy and what is manufactured prophecy. At what point does it become actual prophecy? Or is actual prophecy unobtainable? But the Bene Gesserit have been manipulating the universe for their benefit for thousands and thousands of years. Lady Jessica changed their grand plans by thinking she could be the one to produce the chosen one. She disobeyed her orders and had a son, instead of a daughter. Once Paul took the Water of Life he knew exactly what he needed to do, and what it would do to Chani. He became doctor strange in a sense and could see every single possible future, and the one that he believes is the best path forward, still leads to destruction and death. Before he took it, his visions were what could be, but not what will be. He couldn't fully control it. This is how Jamis was teaching him how to be Freman, even though in real life, Paul kills Jamis. Those visions didn't come true, but Jamis still taught him. His sister by getting the Water of Life, by way of Lady Jessica, has the ability to see, so she pretty much communicates to her mother through time.

2024-06-09 06:47:15 +0000 UTCRead the book. It’s really engrossing. None of his visions have to come to pass but because he can work out possible futures he can choose his actions to make them happen. When he has the vision of Chani being destroyed by the nukes he balances it against the deaths of millions and picks the future where she survives. I’m not 100% sure but I think the first time he has the vision of the people starving it’s Alia (Anya Taylor Joy) he’s following and later it switches to Jessica. Book Alia is even weirder than a talking foetus. Speaking of Anya Taylor Joy, Furiosa is another movie you’d probably regret not seeing on the big screen.

2024-06-08 12:58:48 +0000 UTCYeah, this is because the timeline is different. They’ve been together for five years and had kids (and lost them) it’s a very different relationship. The thing I’m most sad they lost is the friendship and support between Chani and Jessica. The movie needed his betrayal of Chani so we can see the start of his villain arc.

2024-06-08 12:45:18 +0000 UTCOne of the concerns about the change in Paul Atredies after taking the water of life can be explained in this way. Imagine knowing everything about the past and seeing all possible futures. That would include all the great things done and all of the corruption present from the very beginning of human existence. The naivete would be stripped away from the subject and probably sadness and perhaps a certain level of righteous anger would be present in my view. "The beauty and the horror".

2024-06-08 02:15:00 +0000 UTCIn the book, Chani did not leave Paul’s side when he married Princess Irulan. In fact, she supported him and the prophecy to survive. Paul only married Irulan to become the Emperor, nothing more. Chani stays as Paul’s concubine and true love.

2024-06-07 22:02:58 +0000 UTCThere is in all things a pattern that is part of our universe. It has symmetry, elegance, and grace - these qualities you find always in that the true artist captures. You can find it in the turning of the seasons, the way sand trails along a ridge, in the branch clusters of the creosote bush of the pattern of its leaves. We try to copy these patterns in our lives and in our society, seeking the rhythms, the dances, the forms that comfort. Yet, it is possible to see peril in the finding of ultimate perfection. It is clear that the ultimate pattern contains its own fixity. In such perfection, all things move towards death.

2024-06-07 18:29:05 +0000 UTCVee, don't know about you, but Hanz Zimmer is hands down the best part of this film. I think without him, this movie wouldn't have the impact it has. His scores just hit on another level. Bro is the GOAT. I see his name in credits, instant chills!
