Better Call Saul S3 Ep 6 | Full Length Reaction!

This was a really sad episode actually and makes you realize just how much Chuck is struggling. That hearing was an eye opener for him and it makes me happy to see his self awareness and willingness to improve. It's sad how it went down between the brothers... but I hope this is a gateway for Chuck to get the help he needs, and maybe reconnect the brothers. 🥺 (I'm pretty hopeful if you couldn't tell LOL I JUST WANT THE BEST FOR EVERYONE UGHHH)

Blindly submitting to abusive disabled family because of indoctrinated moral obligation is enabling. The only hindering Jimmy did was not push Chuck to get help before this moment. Jimmy finally did the right thing for his brother, while also saving his own career. Chuck refused psychological help over and over because of his pride, arrogance, and vanity. The only way he was going to seek help was in a situation similar to this, although probably didn't need an audience. Chuck had to be confronted with absolute confirmation that he was wrong. Chuck is a brilliant lawyer and would rationalize denying any and every doubt unless there was no way to deny it. Jimmy finally did his brother the biggest favor. Then walking out of his life was another favor. Chuck believed himself to be responsible for Jimmy even though he sabotaged Jimmy's career as a lawyer constantly. With Jimmy gone, Chuck finally focused on taking care of himself. This obligation to help family even when that family hates you was holding back both of them. Both of them are to blame for that scene in front of the board. Blind obligation instead of being open and honest with each other. Enabling.

You spelled 100% wrong incorrectly

I'm also a caregiver and side with Rebecca. You have to help those you care about, not hinder them. Jimmy knows Chuck hates him, but instead of backing away, he ramps it up until it gets to this stage. Then he dumps him after humiliating Chuck? What Chuck did was wrong, but "you don't do that to your own brother" - no Jimmy, no you don't.

Saltire

Indeed. Looking forward as I catch up to the old people episode soon!

Saltire

Nope she is 100% right, and what Slippin' Jimmy and Kimmy did - WAS WRONG.

Saltire

You are very passionate and very wrong. I can't agree that Jimmy did what he did in the courtroom out of "love". Its "despicable" more like. This is the true side of Jimmy coming out now, this vindictive scammy immoral person. Chuck only brought it out. Rebecca is right, Kim and Jimmy tore down someone who needed help, not humiliation. And for what, so Jimmy can continue to be a lawyer, a "criminal" one that will Break Bad and cause such damage down the line. Even if one doesn't agree with Rebecca's line, Kim does. Anyway now that the Chuck v Jimmy stuff is over, we see that Chuck is beginning to take Howard's advice and beginning to try to fix himself. What Jimmy did to him in court spurred him on as he knew it could only be mental this illness. I love the cinematography when he's going into town at night. The lighting is amped right up as if it's piercing him, putting us in his mindspace. Nacho is feeling like he's between a rock and a hard place with everything going on with Hector and Gus. We can see its getting to him by the sewing machine incident, and having a gun pulled on him. Then Hector wants to use his father's business as a drugs front. So Nacho is going to take drastic measures to try to stop this. And the wonderful ad at the end, as Kim is introduced to the Saul Goodman persona. Its starting... :D

I don't think Jimmy was trying to knock Chuck down in Chicanery. He was just trying to save his ass, and knocking Chuck down was the only way he could do it. He wasn't trying to knock Chuck down when he messed with the Mesa Verde files, he was just trying to save Kim. At no point was Jimmy trying to knock Chuck down, but Chuck consistently tried to knock or keep Jimmy down.

I think we need to be clear that Chuck did not force Jimmy to play his hand in the court hearing. Jimmy made a choice and I agree with it. I sympathize with Chuck's condition but the two brothers just do not see eye to eye in their profession. If Jimmy were still slaving away in the mail room at HHM, Chuck wouldn't have a problem with that - but he can't abide with Jimmy being a lawyer.

ButtercupsTrueLove

Yep, he is so new he isn’t even “Krazy-8” yet. Just “Domingo”.

Tim Martin

I think this is the first time Jimmy has let any of his friends or family know about “Saul”. Well maybe Marco knew.

Tim Martin

Yes, in the cold opening of season 1 episode 4 ("Hero"). Its the Rolex watch scam he pulls with Marco under the alias of Saul Goodman.

Slaizio

he already used saul goodman before, right? In one of his cons

Cleberson F Rodrigues Junior

Yeah rebecca can go fuck herself with her stupid "do the right thing" and "he's mentally ill whats your excuse" lines. Jimmy has been doing the right thing by chuck for so damn long now and all he gets is chucks contempt, jimmy has earned his break from that shitty relationship.

Jergin

"People who are malicious need to get knocked off their high horse" Just marking this down for reference for the future

TGrimace

the restaurant where nacho and hector collect ( where tuco beat up mike) is a separate place from the Icecream store that hector introduced to don eladio in that flashback. icecream store got raided.

Rebecca was out of line. She's new to Chuck's condition. Jimmy has been dealing with it without help. There is a term for when caregivers reach a limit from all the abuse they received from the person they are caring for; compassion fatigue. Its a real mental limit. Psychologists treat other psychologists for this when they can't handle treating they're clients for the time being. Its similar to the stuff they say about introverts recharging they're batteries. Mental exhaustion. Jimmy needs a break from Chuck, and Chuck needs a break from Jimmy. Especially since he is now doing the right thing and using exposure therapy, like you pointed out (good work on that), and asking for a doctor. My view is this. If somebody had a better way to deal with this mess, then step up and do it. People always have words about how a caregiver does their job, but no one puts their money where their mouth is. I didn't want to become a caregiver for my friend because I was a afraid of the mental toll combined with my poor health. But options were beyond limited for my friend and she asked me to do it. I'm trained, experienced, and educated. Jimmy wasn't and he wasn't asked. He still did better than most ever do in that situation. Jimmy had every right to celebrate. And I knew Chuck would step up as soon as he realized it was all in his head. Let people grieve over their loss of innocence, first. Howard was the perfect person to show up, telling Chuck he's better than this mental illness, and that he believes in him to get himself sorted out now that he has the right info about his condition. And Chuck did exactly what I thought he would do. This is a solvable problem. Just like recovering from severe injury. You work the therapy, then results will follow. You shrug therapy off, then you better be able to accept the consequences of your choice because no one wants to hear the whining when it was your choice to get better but didn't. Chuck didn't milk the help he was getting for his condition. Too proud. That's how I knew he would take the steps to get help once he got out of his own head and self-doubt.

That "it's just a name" is such a hard hitting line, especially the way Bob delivers it with such emotion. I also love the effect they did with the lighting in the Chuck outside scene. We now start to see Nacho as more human. When he's introduced via Jimmy he's an intimidating force, but in this cartel world of crazy Salamancas, he doesn't quite belong. Doesn't want to beat up his friend Domingo (Krazy-8), doesn't like having a gun held to his head, doesn't want to involve his father. Also, gotta love the Lydia & laundromat cameos!

Max Hassam

Not sure if u noticed him before or in this episode, but the person who was light on his money was Krazy 8. The guy who Walt killed in BB.

David Cansler

Hector Salamanca is someone who, one day, will let a man he hates put a homemade pipe bomb on his wheelchair, just so he can also take out a man he hates MORE... :o

MertzRocks

The long wild ride...

...Also a previous ep of BCS. The Tampico Furniture shirt (and the Tampico van in the previous appearance) is an Easter egg.

MertzRocks

Yes, many do take in the aroma of a good really old Scotch like that, just like people do with fine wines. BTW Howard wouldn't say, but that bottle probably cost more than the Zafiro Aneja tequila that Jimmy and Kim tricked Ken into paying for. WELL over 500 bucks... :D The drugs were packed in coffee grounds. Jimmy has used 'Saul Goodman' at times ever since his life back in Cicero; this is just him introducing it to the world (well, Albuquerque... ) :D

MertzRocks

Oh I didn't hear that I just heard her acknowledge Tyrus

Ace

I think she recognizes Victor. "It's crazy to see both of them right here, again" -- meaning he and Tyrus.

Patti Rey

You shouldn't feel guilty about explaining yourself so much about Chuck v. Jimmy. I personally am more intrigued by how you'll react to the further pulling back of the proverbial curtain on how, as you said- "everything's slowly coming together!" and all that. You're gonna see a lot more of that. A LOT more. That's what I'm interested in watching you react to. Your stance is your stance. It's your platform. We're just along for the ride.

WarriorPoet1980

She still hasn't recognized boxcutter or Crazy 8 lol

Ace

The scenes with Jimmy and his college students filming crew are secretly some of the best in the series. Him constantly butting heads with Camera Guy in particular is comedy gold. 😆

Patti Rey

Good news - no health code violations. I don't think you noticed last time he was in Better Call Saul, but that's Krazy-8 who Nacho was beating up. The same Krazy-8 from the first three episodes of Breaking Bad.
