The cinematography this episode is outstanding. From Mike trailing the goon, the reveal of Los Pollos Hermanos, to Jimmy in the restaurant and the build up to Gus; to then the overhead of Jimmy as he is done for the day after learning about what Chuck did. Phenomenal stuff. These people are master film-makers.

2024-04-21 05:04:17 +0000 UTCVee, you got emotional not because of the scene. You know what Family is, and you have it; Not the Family from the paper but The Family from the heart. That's why you got emotional. I understand you. โค๏ธ It hurts the soul to see these situations for those who have Family in their hearts and have been through it or have seen it happen in their Family. That's what I think and what I feel. ๐๐ฅฐ Vee and guys, about Chuck, Jimmy, "Law stuff," and other things, I will read all the comments since episode one of season one to be on the same page as you. ๐ (I can already say that I separate Jimmy as a human being and thoughtful brother from Jimmy as a professional. I don't mix things up with Chuck, even if he does. Consider this: a thief can be an excellent and loving father, and a brilliant, polite, and ethical executive can be an absent and insensitive father. Apples and oranges). ๐๐ ๐

2024-04-21 04:24:25 +0000 UTCHoward, my guy! You lost your suit on the first wall! Vee, fixing the suit as he did, is almost a tic we have: button up and brush the tie! LOL ๐ What's weird is that he didn't unbutton the blazer before his Ferris Bueller moment. ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ

2024-04-21 03:20:31 +0000 UTCMy God, I forgot how unreasonably hard the soundtrack goes for this show. I must've been too engrossed in the story the first time to notice lol

2024-04-21 02:21:30 +0000 UTCThis is a neat little subtle thing that I think is intended to be minor foreshadowing, but when Jimmy is asking Francesca about the "M" and she says "you're a little crooked," I kind of have this feeling that's intended to foreshadow what Jimmy would later become. Saul.

2024-04-21 00:22:11 +0000 UTCI love the build up to Gus. The closer we get to the Breaking Bad timeline, the bigger the world becomes. Chuck speaks like it's about upholding the law but it's always about Jimmy I believe.

2024-04-21 00:07:41 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favourite episodes. The Los Pollos reveal, the out-of-focus Gus intro, the Francesca intro (Saul's future receptionist!) and the brief Victor reveal in the truck (Who Gus kills with a box-cutter!). The mind games between Gus & Mike, Jimmy being a terrible spy and finally, the metaphor behind the tape-rolling. To go over Chuck's plan: He got the confession out of Jimmy so he knows that when Ernesto said he'd called Jimmy when Chuck hit his head, Chuck knew Ernie will lie for Jimmy in spite of the truth when it favours Chuck (though Chuck doesn't realise it's his own vindictiveness against Jimmy that made Ernie do that, not just Jimmy's charisma); so he set a trap for Ernie with the batteries knowing he'd spill & Jimmy would find out. Chuck is mostly right, he does know his brother. He knows how conniving he can be. But what he constantly underestimates is how much Jimmy actually cares for him. Why is unclear, but we've seen before when Chuck assumes that Jimmy would have him committed so he can have control over him, when Jimmy doesn't want that at all. So where Chuck was wrong is he grossly underestimated how hurt Jimmy would be by being taped. His plan, however, still worked. The metaphor of the tape-rolling is one of my faves. Chuck shows Jimmy the right way of doing something so that there isn't collateral, even if it takes time. Jimmy isn't about that. He is reminded of Chuck when doing it so he rips it. And what happens? He screws up the paint! Or, as Francesca said "you're a little crooked" (great pun :D). It's not in Jimmy to do things the proper way, even when he knows there'll be consequences.

2024-04-21 00:01:44 +0000 UTCvee remember when we first meet gus in BB, he's already got a tenuous relationship with hector cause of his partner. Being forced to work with the cartel, he's always keeping an eye on them to stay one step ahead. My thinking is, he wasn't watching mike, he was watching hector, or rather one of his subordinates was. they spotted mike, and gus stopped him, because if hector were to die, the cartel would most likely assume it was gus that did it

2024-04-20 23:54:39 +0000 UTCThe new receptionist Francesca is the same one who was in BB working for Saul and the guy who drove away from Los Pollos throwing the cigarette away was Victor who had his throat cut by Gus.

2024-04-20 23:50:14 +0000 UTCChuck can go suck his own shoe after it was shoved up it his ass. He is the worst. Jimmy is a con man, doesn't go by the rules and cuts corners, heโs not the most innocent guy, but he GENUINELY cares about his big brother. Chuck knows that, and used it against Jimmy. I get that he resents Jimmy for stealing from their father, and that their parents preferred him over Chuck... And honestly I can somewhat relate, I had my issues with my younger siblings, but I would never do something like sabotaging my little brother. Manipulating them like that, using their kindness to get them arrested, even when all theyโve been trying to do in the recent past was try to get better. Disgusting. I would've had more respect for Chuck if he had just cut him out of his life instead of these toxic games.
