btw if you're wondering I'm pretty sure the ending is showing us Mikasa passing on to the afterlife right after she died from the old age. In the beginning we saw her jump into the water and then floating in it surrounded by white cherry blossoms which are often used in funerals in Japan and represent the transience of life, rebirth and a new beginning. We see her floating in the water surrounded by them in the exact same position she was buried in, which signals her passing away and her journey into the afterlife.

The first half was really melancholy and slow, I guess they needed that after the insane ending of season 1 so I'm not mad they did it that way. But now we're back to the good stuff ;-)
