Better Call Saul [S2 EP 5] | Full Length Reaction

Hi guys! I want to apologize first to say I'm sorry for taking 2 days off 🥲. Was feeling a bit of burnout and didn't want to force reactions but I am feeling better now so NOW it's time for more BCS!

2 things to consider re Chuck in this episode. 1. His story about their father is only his perspective, but it may not be the whole story. Remember, Chuck did say he was a bad businessman who couldn't properly keep his books. 2. Why is he telling Kim this story at all? Could it be that he just wants to drive a wedge through Kim and Jimmy, so Jimmy loses the one thing he cares most about in life? (This second question is never answered, btw. What do you guys think?) Also, Howard is a self-centered douchebag and always was. Remember how he interrupted Jimmy's little party to tell him HMM won't hire him as a lawyer, then took his cake anyway? There are countless more of such examples coming, big and little. Don't let a couple of seemingly nice things he does fool you, they're all for his own self-centered reasons. Onto 6!

I’ve seen this series 2 times and I just now noticed that in the scene with hector they open it with a bell ringing in the cafe

Is reading subtitles a distraction or not? Subtitles are somewhat of a spoiler.

Mr. Nobody

Gotta love Jimmy. Pulling into the parking lot and humming the Rocky theme after seeing Mike :)

Switch is a metaphor for Jimmy's sudden change he made in his life but not actually changing as a person. 'He flips the switch and nothing happens'. He makes a front-facing outward-appearing change but is still the same slippin jimmy. Also In regard to Mike and the previous episode a big thing to keep in mind, IMO is that the last time Mike killed was in revenge against his son's killers. He presently doesn't want to cross that line again.

I love this little story by Chuck about their dad. It really gives us his perspective for the first time, why he's so critical of Jimmy, he's just seen it too many times. Maybe Jimmy could change, but Chuck's too cynical at this point to truly believe that, and you have to admit, not for bad reasons. The tragic thing is, the one way Jimmy probably could change, is if Chuck actually did believe in him. Chuck is probably the only person that actually would be able to make him change. Still, I think these last few episodes do quite a good job to make us reflect on their relationship and that Chuck's perspective is, if not the right one, at least understandable. It was necessary to redeem Chuck a bit after that twist at the end of season 1. The downside is that by exonerating Chuck concerning Kim's punishment, it's like you said, it makes Howard seem unnecessarily cruel and petty. And I actually think it's kind of out of character from what we'd seen from him up until then. I guess he just cares a lot about his reputation and carries a grudge towards Kim for trusting her when she vouched for Jimmy. Oh and by the way, Rebecca is played by Ann Cusack, who you've seen in The Boys as Annie's mom.

We'll let it slide... THIS time... ;P Just kidding V These things happen. Glad you're feeling better now. Loved your face when you realized that was Hector. I was watching him come in; you didn't notice bc you weren't expecting, and I was thinking you might scream (just a little one) when you saw him. ;*
