Attack on Titan | S4 Ep 26 (85) | Full Length Reaction

Episode name is traitor? WHO'S THE TRAITOR? -< me going into the episode but it still can't be pulling this stuff on us NO WAY but the ending... im devastated...

Comments

Global genocide is bad. Killing billions of innocent people is bad.

Eren is justified for the rumbling. ABSOLUTELY. I would question the thinking behind his "friends" who instantly sided with the Marleyans to stop him. What was their plan? Stop him and what happens? we live happily ever after? At least Jean was reasonable to point out that stopping Eren doesn't change anything for them, you are still in the same mess you started with. "We have to stop him", you stop him and then everyone else comes to finish what they had already planned to do, what then, you "stop them" too? I honestly disliked every other character immediately after they decided on that, except Mikasa and Levi my goats. No other show is greater than AOT

Reginald

Anime and manga basically have the same ending

By the way, about the guys Connie killed, Samuel and Daz; If you just watched the show once it's hard to notice, but Samuel is the guy Sasha saved from falling off the wall by harpooning his leg in the beginning os S1. Daz was the guy Historia was trying to carry down the snowy mountain with Ymir Freckles (calling her that to differentiate from the Ymir Fritz lol). Also fun fact, Samuel's full name is Samuel Linke Jackson, making his name a reference to a certain actor if you abbreviate the middle name 😂

As far as I’m aware, it isn’t different but the manga readers wanted it to be

Zach Woolard

agree with you, and I love your comment

I think what changed for Magath was the fact that Gabi had changed. When he looked at her, I think he finally realized that it was him that was still stuck in the past because Gabi had already moved on. So yes, a moment of self awareness.

Jorge Hernandez

Yeah, I thought there was a lot more to go! She keeps saying 2 episodes and I'm like "Damn, did ALL of that happen within two 24 minute episodes?!". Yeah, I remember the finale was basically a feature length movie.

Joe Blankenship

Eren and the Jaegerists betrayed us. We all want to end the Marley-Eldia war, but global genocide is NOT the way. As hard as it was for Connie to kill his friends, he knew he couldn't sit back and let Eren trample the entire world. That's just insane. Countless innocent lives gone because Eren lost his damn mind. (also, "Eren & The Jaegerists" would be a cool band name. And they play covers of AoT songs.)

Joe Blankenship

Don't worry about the differences between the anime and manga or the people who hate on the anime. Really it's just nerds nitpicking about absolutely trivial stuff and being salty. As for GENERAL Magath? What changed is that he cares about Gabi and Falco. Especially Gabi who he sees as a daughter in his eyes. He also has a tremendous amount of guilt for contributing to the cycle of violence as he was essentially in charge of training child soldiers. Thus Magath clearly wanted to set a good example for both Gabi and Falco in order to show them each that it's okay to put aside past hatreds. He understands the cycle of violence has to be ended and it's end should start with the younger generation.

AoT is my favorite story ever but some of the fans are very dumb and immature. People literally sent death threats and shit because they never understood the core message of the show and didn't get what they wanted

david ammerman

I think the manga readers were just being bitter and dumb. I spent like a year being worried about the ending and it was great. They only added like one bit of dialogue because people are dense and want to complain about everything

david ammerman

How sad is it that Samuel is saved by Sasha in S1, and killed by Connie in S4? The amount of times this show has made you cry, I'm so sorry :'( (but also same). Fantastic reaction, was really excited for this one! Without spoilers, having watched the anime and read the manga, both endings are absolutely perfectly written in my eyes.

James Payne

She has mods that monitor the comments for spoilers. They silence a lot. They can get real high on their hog about it, too. Plus she records some things way in advance so it could be that she already knows by now. Still, lol, we have fun around here.

"I won't stand by with clean hands." Well well well, look at Armin all grown up. Just like Erwin, like he imagined in that one episode of season 3, guilty on top of the mountain of corpses of the soldiers he had to sacrifice to make it as far as he got, Armin and the rest are the same, except here Armin is taking responsibility in a really fucked up way by doing the killing with his own hands. We saw Jean go through it in the third season, when Armin first pulled the trigger to save him, then Jean did not hesitate kill in the underground cavern, and then to shoot at Falco in that other battle. Reiner, Annie, Bert, Gabi, and Mikasa had been doing it since children. Sasha got killed for her role in killing in that episode. Hange does not hesitate to bear the responsibility of killing her own even if she hates doing so. And now Connie's heart has to break in doing so. Daz was the one that Ymir saves in the snowy training, and he was seen in the background crying about going to battle in Trost. Samuel is the one Sasha saves when he falls off the wall unconscious when Bert appears as the Colossal and breaks the second wall five years after the first time. And may I give a special shoutout to Hiro Shimono (Connie) and Kensho Ono (Floch) to how crazy good their acting has been in these last few episodes, how visceral and raw their emotions in their parts. As great as Hiroshi Tsuchida (Grisha) or almost there pretty much.

I know I have been trying to comment the past few episodes to let her know but I don't think she is reading them lol. Sent her a DM explaining how the final specials are essentially season 4 episodes 29-34 or whatever so hopefully she gets that.

The endings for the anime and the manga were the same. There were a couple of changes in the delivery of things, because many of the manga readers took things the wrong way, or they did not get their preferred outcome, and in a couple of places Isayama could have done it better, in what ways are to be discussed later. I am gonna say it was about half and half, those who hated it, those who like it, when the manga came out. But as usual with fanbases, and especially this manga/anime, which already had a toxic subset of trolls wanting to spoil everything for reactors and others, there was a very vocal subset of people exaggerating things, not all the manga readers that hated it were toxic and their opinions are valid. Details will be discussed later. Have fun with the Youtube comment sections, and good luck, hahahaha😂. The manga ending was exactly what I thought it would be, I loved it myself, though many of us hoped for a double-sized chapter to end it all, a few things seemed rushed a bit, or rather they needed more room to breathe, and I only saw a couple of anime reactors caught certain hints of twists of upcoming resolutions in the manga. Isayama released a few more pages not long after that in my opinion helped, others were even more mad because they missed the point of things. Details until later. It was fun though that the many people that wanted some different ending in the anime kept on coping until the end, but there were a few differences. The ending is awesome, the anime-onlies redeemed the experience for me which was extremely cathartic, rewarding and awesome, most reactors loved it, of course there are legitimate criticisms, and a lot of it is just preferences of opinions in the discussion of the ending. Looking forward to V's reaction to the end.

David Caine

V! lol, there are 2, season 4, specials after episode 87! They are not bonus! They are the ending! lol, you keep saying the episode countdown and not mentioning these specials! They are not the OADs! Those are the bonus ones. The specials are labelled in season 4. E-SP1 - Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 1, run time 1hr 1min, and E-SP2 - Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 2, run time 1hr 24min on Crunchyroll.

Anime changed some subtle things about certain pieces of dialouge that made everything much more digestable. Manga and anime endings are essentially the same though. Manga was a monthly chapter release schedule. People had way too much time to create their own head cannons that didn't come true. Main reason of their outrage. A lot of manga readers still liked the ending but the ones who didn't get what they want threw a tantrum like a little kid who didn't get his christmas present he wanted and were the loudest. Also once again you have more than 3 episodes left lol the 2 specials are the main story continued. If you stop in 3 episodes you will be severely disappointed.

NissanZaxima

I was a manga reader and I loved the ending of both (which are practically identical)

Josh Stewart

It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve watched this, I still cry every time at the end of this episode. Connie’s scream is heartbreaking, and when Armin got shot I forgot for a moment that he can heal and I was beside myself in shock and devastation. It’s even more upsetting when you do a rewatch and see Samuel and Daz way back in season one and you know this happens eventually. War is horrific, no matter which side you’re on. This story does a phenomenal job of showing that in war, nobody really wins. 😞 Your reaction was cathartic to watch because I got to cry with you. It’s all just so sad.

Kel

As far as I know, the manga and the anime have the exact same ending, the only thing I know was changed is 1 sentence which was very poorly worded in the manga but that's it. Without giving any details, it's more a "manga readers wanted X ending and didn't get it and anime watchers wanted Y ending and got it" kind of situation

Information available for public disclosure: Flying Boat Hizuru technology must be used to service the world's first flying boat, which uses Iceburst Stone as fuel. Since it was designed to observe the might of the rumbling, the craft is capable of long-distance, intercontinental flight.

Slaizio

It's absolutely devastating seeing our team having to kill their friends. I can't imagine living with killing an enemy, taking a life, and they have to somehow deal with that, It's heartbreaking. Great reaction Vee, I havent seen the ending to aot yet so I'm excited and very nervous.
