Better Call Saul [S1 EP 7] | Full Length Reaction

Comments

A couple of times when we see Jimmy try to do the right thing, it ends up hurting him in some way. Perhaps he's one of life's losers, so seeks the quick fix to scam those supposedly smarter people than him, to get the upper hand. The Saul Goodman persona exemplifies this.

Yea, I caught the Oscar and Felix reference just now. The Odd Couple! LOL!! I've watched this show a couple of times before, and I totally missed it. I still don't get the corn field reference though.

Love this episode. Mike was smooth as hell grabbing that cash. The music playing in that scene is called "Tune Down" by Chris Joss. Had to look it up after the first time I saw this. His other stuff's great too. Funky little instrumental jams.

Not only do the Cuckoo-Kettlemans have to have the 30K they gave Jimmy but don't forget, that boat in their driveway is part of that 1.6 million as well! I won't repeat here what I said in reply to Mr. Cansler above, you can see it there. LOL I love your reactions to this show as much as or more than to BrBa. The scene with Mike doing the B&E, biding his time beforehand eating their apples and listening to Minor League Baseball (go Isotopes! lol); and the music... I was drumming along on my legs :D Yes Jimmy has been trying to do the right thing, but his old ways often get in the way - especially at times when things have already gone sideways for him. But ofc he sometimes MAKES things go sideways by reverting to his Slippin' Jimmy ways. I can't wait for the next one! Then again, I can say that after every one! Thanks Vee, you rock.

Crazy Craig and Batshit Betsy Kettleblack. ;P B E S T . C R I M I N A L S . E V E R . . . . N O T . :D

Yes, he's amazing. I remember him as far back as Lenny in Laverne and Shirley (OMG :D ) and of course he's unforgettable as David St. Hubbins in This Is Spinal Tap. Other than those, I think I've only seen a few minor bit parts, but he's always on point.

MertzRocks

LOL I see what you did there

Tim Martin

While I'm doing references I guess I could also say "Betsy" is a reference to Betsy Brandt who plays Marie in BB.

Matt

"Betsy suuuuuucks"...LMAO

David Cansler

Cool symbolism when Jimmy stops outside Chucks place it shows a caterpillar leaving its cocoon then we see Chuck outside his cocoon That guy that bumps into Jimmy in the bathroom is one of the dudes that helped make the magnet in Breaking Bad

Matt

It was Odd that Irene said that 😉

Matt

Who gets the inside joke about Irene’s 2 cats, Oscar and Felix? And also the one about the corn field?

Tim Martin

You're absolutely on point to see that when he does wrong things it tends to works out for him and doing the right thing seems to knock him back. Perhaps a motivation for him sliding towards "Saul"? I definitely would've liked to see how Jimmy convinced Mike to help him too; I imagine it would've been based on Jimmy seeing that Mike is willing to bend the rules with the coffee stunt. This episode demonstrates to me that Jimmy is willing to sabotage his own success for the benefit of his (clearly very close) friend, Kim. Howard was punishing her for losing the client, so he sacrificed his shiny new office so she could recover. What a gent! :D I think on top of Jimmy setting up Chuck to get him to do his paperwork for him, he was also trying to get him to work as he might think it'd be good for him. Very proud of Chuck trying to acclimatise :) Michael McKean is a fantastic actor, I love it when the shot lingers on him a second or two longer, his character feels so natural.

It was explained in the previous episode why Stacy called the Philly PD. She found thousands in cash belonging to her deceased husband. Mike cleared things up with her putting them both on a similar level of understanding as to what happened with his son, her husband. That's why Mike doesn't think she will give much to the police anymore.
