I might actually rate this slightly higher than Breaking Bad, its so damn good, and Kim is a legend!

Kim has a teensy role in this episode, but even so, she's fixing Jimmy's garbage.

2024-02-08 22:17:23 +0000 UTCAs you pointed out, the cinematography style is carried over from Breaking Bad, you will see its shots and camera work get even better. Breaking Bad was modern neo-western sort of thriller, and many people notice in the beginning, like Dean Norris has pointed out in interviews, that it was a comedy at times, a darkly comedic satire at points that evolved into what it became. I was able to see the comedy having the Malcolm in the Middle dad play Walter, who I did not even recognize at first with the demeanor change of a great actor creating his character. Better Call Saul is not the same type of show, even with overlaps, and that is the reason some people will say one is better than the other, because of their individual preferences. I cannot choose a favorite child, so I cannot choose a favorite between the two, but I will say that Better Call Saul was the best show on television when it ended last year. The cinematography becomes glorious, the writing feels more intricate whereas in Breaking Bad it flowed like a river waiting to flood. I will say that the characters here in this show are better developed and even the minor characters become memorable. You are yet to know which are the best characters and which you will hate because of some great television craft. It's gonna be an amazing ride.

2024-02-08 07:43:33 +0000 UTCI love this show. I'm sure others have mentioned it, but it is important to remember that BCS is more of a slow burn than BrBa. That's not a bad thing, but it can be jarring to pick up this series immediately after high intense episodes like To'hajiilee/Ozymandias/Granite State/Felina. The energy will gradually pick up over time. Personally, I think BrBa is the better series, but BCS has better character development (ESPECIALLY for secondary and tertiary characters) and far more impactful long term payoffs.

Camera work and general cinematography have improved aswell. I just like the topics of Breaking Bad more, it excites me more and gets me more hyped.

Very curious to see where you end up once you have made it to the end. Crazy fact about this show: It was nominated for a total of 53 Emmys over the course of its run and never won a single one!

I just can't have both on one screen nor have my two screens side by side; so if I'm watching a show/movie with a creator's reaction, I'm usually too busy looking at the material to see the reactions - only hear the audible parts. So I find it distracting; but if you have a better way, by all means go for it! : )

This is my first rewatch of the show and certain elements here were already reminding me of later seasons and made me feel nostalgic. You already noticed how well it is shot and that stays the same throughout the show. It feels like we never even left Albuquerque. Keep an eye out for easter eggs for BB because this show is filled with them.

Jimmy’s friend, Kim, with her pony tail. These things become their own characters. Did you catch the shot of Jimmy walking towards the white Cadillac, only to cut to the right at the last second and open the door to his lovely pee yellow Suzuki Esteem? Did you catch that the car the skater twins targeted was a Ford Taurus, not a Mercury Sable? Lots of small details that may be hard to catch. What is the relationship between Chuck and Jimmy? Chuck mentioned Jimmy’s “cronies in the mail room”??? This show hooked me from the get-go just like BB. Glad you have also started this journey.
