My friends and I saw it together after trying to avoid the trailers for it and we loved it and had no idea what would happen next. As mentioned above, this was supposed to be part 1 of a trilogy that never got greenlit. One of those little heartbreaking details not seen on the first viewing is the ultrasound on the dresser in the last scene with Tania (Wikus' wife)

2024-01-23 04:42:13 +0000 UTCI like that it leaves it open ended, because it forces us to asks the questions about the repercussions of our xenophobia like: - would you come back for Wikus? - would christopher come back for his people - or be able to convince his people to come back for a rescue mission? and would they come back peacefully or just go full force to avoid any more friendly casualties - do we deserve peace with the aliens? The way I choose to see the ending is that Wickus stayed himself during his transformation, which means he's the intelligent prawn amongst all the workers. In a way he took Christopher's place as the shephard of the workers. Wickus is looking over the prawns in district 10 as they wait for christopher. The reason they tore apart that soldier at the end was because they started to recognize Wickus as one of the "leader" prawns and just instinctively protected him. Unfortunately I don't think Wickus ever becomes human again. Even if Christopher could cure him, it's not like Wickus would be able to go back to his home and his wife - even if she accepts him, the government will arrest him and most likely continue experimenting on him, or try him as a terrorist and execute him. I think the only ending that makes sense is that Wickus accepts his new life as a prawn and christopher and his son become his new family
