@ LightsCameraJake, Bryan Tuck- yes people can suggest what they want, and I can call them out for bad suggestions too, which is not "belittling them". Or do you think that theme polls shouldn't exist? I mean if V did a sports movie poll and I suggested Friday the 13th part 3 because Jason wears a hockey mask you'd be cool with that then? Or would you rightly call me out for making a non-theme suggestion? This attempted subversion of theme polls happens fairly often and I see people push back on it all the time with no one calling them gatekeeper - except when it comes to horror polls. Then you're a mean old "gatekeeper" for not letting them try to get whatever non-horror movie they want on a horror poll. If V really wanted non horror movies for this poll then why did she write this in her post "I have seen many horror movies by now (it being one of if not my favorite film genre!!) so I will be responding to comments that recommend movies I’ve already seen, just to let you know. :)" ? Sounds pretty specific to me. But hey, maybe she'll do a horror comedy poll so I can suggest something wildly inappropriate for it, like The Mist. Of course I wouldn't do that because I can follow directions.

Richard Maurer

Someone needs to gatekeep - because others try change the intent of the post. V asked for horror movies, not a bunch movies that are vaguely horror adjacent (Harvey? Really?). But say some of these movies did take up space on a horror poll where they don't belong. They would most likely lose while blocking actual horror films from a chance to win by being on the poll in the first place. And if they did win they would be a disappointment to anyone looking for actual horror films - including V. How about people stop being selfish by trying to shoehorn in movies that don't belong on theme polls. This includes any theme poll, not just horror. This happens all the time and I'm sick of it.

Richard Maurer

I here I was trying to have a normal discussion, so stop trying make it like was attacking you or something. Maybe you could have a rational discussion instead just trying to dismiss out of hand other people opinions. It's not like I was making some extreme statement, the truth is you just didn't like getting called out for trying to subvert the intent of what V was asking for. Personally I don't care if it bothers you or not, I'm going to give my opinion when I see something that annoys me.

Richard Maurer

Another vote for the original OMEN for sure. OMEN 2 is okay, but it sure does get goofy after that. :)

Bryan Tuck

And Lee Remick! 😃

AC5555

Original Omen with Gregory Peck please! Damien: Omen 2 is also great. I also second Carrie (and also Chainsaw, though I've not seen much of it)

MertzRocks

John Carpenter's The Thing (1982)

Ashtroga

@Lights - Oh, so nothing about my comments about blind-leading-the-blind fans who literally don’t KNOW any other movies they either lived to see in theaters or “secretly” discovered on disk when someone else showed it to them, and thought it was the only one cool film ever made? And then forced an entire other culturally amnesiac generation to experience the same twelve films they knew, because You Have to Be Like Me? Yes, that does tend to be the age when any justifiable “belittling” that you’re not curious to seek out new experiences gets only hurt-snowflake reactions that we were being “mean” in pointing out facts, tribalism of “It’s OUR favorite not yours!”, or the child’s Whatabout-ism to find out why the Mean Person was Wrong, Too.

Eric Janssen

This.

AC5555

Yes. And Macario

AC5555

Hooah. Bell Book and Candle is also great.

AC5555

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Let the Right One In (2008), Carrie (1976), Kuroneko (1968), The Omen,

Matt Chris

V - you might also enjoy BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA (1992) and MARY SHELLEY'S FRANKENSTEIN (1994), which are relatively faithful adaptations of the original novels. They both still take some liberties, but they're generally closer to the original works than most other versions. :)

Bryan Tuck

Also, all-out horror is not the only thing that's Halloween-appropriate. She specifically says she loves all things "Halloween, spooky, and horror." There's room for a wide variety.

Bryan Tuck

Because its a patreon and people are allowed to suggest what they want. They pay money to suggest things and watch reactions. You are not the police of this community. Its annoying. You left your suggestions in a earlier comment so dont worry about others. Vee is smart enough to know a horror movie suggestion (like the vast majority that there are here) and filter out the rest for later reactions and polls by a simple IMDB search. The only person here "wrecking other peoples fun" is you by going into other people suggestions and belittling them :)

LightsCameraJake

Great suggestion! I hope vee considers them even if not for Halloween but at some point! Pay no attention to people who feel they need to gate keep suggestions and act like the police of this community :)

LightsCameraJake

Richard, you need to take a chill pill. Its not that serious calm that fuck down. His suggestion is harmless and you need to stop being Vee's attack dog and going after patrons for simply suggesting movies to watch. Halloween themed or not, knock it off.

LightsCameraJake

Because if we’re lucky, the latest James BlumWan is the only horror film they KNOW. If we’re not, they’re A24 devotees who’ve become so wrapped up in the 21st cty.’s search for “Disturbing allegorical horror as social metaphor”, they try to make every human being on the planet watch Midsommar for their own perceptual awakening. Me, I’m a Val Lewton fan, and it takes a heck of a lot more to scare ME than some snooty artsy-pants jump scares. Especially when you know jump-scares were named after the one in the ‘40 “Cat People”. 😎

Eric Janssen

Same to you.......except the picking your movie part, of course.

Richard Maurer

Peter Jackson's film Braindead (US title Dead/Alive - due to copyright problems) would be a better, and much funnier, choice - imo.

Richard Maurer

Why is it that every Halloween people feel the need to try and get whatever vaguely horror adjacent film they happen to like on Halloween horror polls? I can only assume they do it because they don't like horror, but why try and wreck everyone else's fun? Comedies, children's films, and action movies are not horror films, even when they have horror elements.

Richard Maurer

I hope everything is go well in your life Richard and I hope V picks one of your movies you suggested. Take care.

Calbert

I have just enough time to point out when people try to get films into polls where they don't belong. You saying Coraline fits what V was asking for is silly, she asked for horror films - it's not a horror film no matter how much you want it to be. That's like asking for Friday the 13th to be put in a animated children's film poll. Most of the people here are giving real horror film suggestions, so get over yourself - it's not about whatever random film you want to see.

Richard Maurer

V asked for horror movies. Not one of those is a horror movie, And they wouldn't win a poll anyway smh.

Richard Maurer

With how much time you have devoted complaining about my suggestion (which fits what V was asking for) it seems you have a lot of free time to waste.

Calbert

Hate it when people refuse to take the reactors instructions and try to jam their favorites into polls where they don't belong, It's a waste of of every bodies time. Wait for the next animated children's movie poll please.

Richard Maurer

Can't remember if you've mentioned whether you've seen THE EXORCIST or not, but that's an easy recommendation if you're looking for classic, trendsetting horror. I also highly recommend watching the original theatrical version, rather than the extended one (sometimes called "The Version You've Never Seen" or the "Extended Director's Cut"). Sometimes they get it right the first time. :) I'm also still hoping you get a chance to check out DEATH BECOMES HER sometime. Not particularly scary, but a fun spooky comedy. :)

Bryan Tuck

"30 Days of Night" (2007) Where the sun don't shine...

ButtercupsTrueLove

Yeah, the originals are definitely a must watch.

JeremyOnDeck

I second EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE. Of all the demonic possession movies that riff on the original EXORCIST, I think that's one of the best. The courtroom drama aspects make it quite interesting. :)

Bryan Tuck

I think The Frighteners is still a lot of fun overall. The effects are maybe a little dated, but on the other hand, there are only so many ways you can visualize translucent humanoid ghosts. :)

Bryan Tuck

I don't remember disliking the director's cut, except they moved the songs around a bit, which was odd.

Joe Blankenship

She hasn't seen Texas Chainsaw, or Friday the 13th, or Nightmare on Elm St. Only classic slasher she's seen is Halloween.

Joe Blankenship

Nightmare on Elm Street. Friday the 13th. Poltergeist.

Joe Blankenship

The autopsy of Jane doe is a definite one you’ve gotta watch. I love horror movies but I feel like the autopsy of Jane doe is the only one that really does the horror genre justice.

Kendall Brown

The Abyss (1989) Not strictly "Horror" although with lots of spooky elements. Has enough intensity to get you dem sweaty palms and unnerve you.

S1lm4r1l

Donnie Darko. Very young Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Do not watch director's cut

Rob

I love October too! That's when I become a year older!

Javier Ruiz-Leon Jr.

One Cut of the Dead (2017) Go in blind like I did!

Chris Franco

Good recommendations Calbert! Coraline is a good movie and its properly themed for Halloween! :)

LightsCameraJake

Arsenic & Old Lace 1944, Harvey 1950, Bell, Book & Candle 1958 perhaps to start the month or in between the Horrors.

Long-time Sci-Fi Enthusiast

Lol whatever my guy

Calbert

When you add family to horror it stops being horror.

Richard Maurer

If you Google Coraline it’s genre is listed as Family/horror

Calbert

That must be really scary. How did I miss that one?

Richard Maurer

Let the Right One In - the original Swedish version, not the US remake. Smile 30 Days of Night Sinister Ginger Snaps

Richard Maurer

I'll second The Abominable Dr. Phibes. One of my favorite classic horror movies.

Richard Maurer

She asked for horror movies.

Richard Maurer

Last year.

Richard Maurer

The Wolfman (1941), Night of the Demon (1957), The Haunting (1963)

Robert Jewell

"X" is a recent film with some definite inspiration from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It even has a prequel that they filmed at the same time, a long with a sequel in the works.

JeremyOnDeck

Fear Street 1-3 fairly "new" movies on netflix maybe u havent seen those?

Trigzbunneh

Perhaps something for day of the dead (Nov. 1) Coco (2017)?

xBATx

Blade: The first Marvel film worth a damn is also a gory vampire film starring Wesley Snipes and 25 years later it holds up great, as does it’s sequel. The Hannibal Lecter Trilogy: Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal and the prequel Red Dragon. The Craft (original): A group of high school girls start playing with magic and witchcraft and things go wrong. It’s a classic. The Guest: After a family loses their enlisted son overseas one of his friends comes to check in on them, but maybe he’s not telling the family everything he knows. Also literally takes place on Halloween. You’re Next: The best homie invasion movie of the past 15 years.

Drag Me To Hell Trick 'r Treat

Greg S.

I think you mean 2017 homie.

djKENTO

The Omen (1976)

StuWoolf

IT(2007) if you haven't seen it, IT Chapter 2 if you've only seen Chapter 1. I google searched and didn't find reactions to them. If you've seen both I'll think of another movie to recommend here later.

YodatheHobbit

Evil Dead: Rise. We will love watching you watch this!

Mastervodo

She already did 👍

Chris Shine

If you're taking a break from BrBa, I'd say you should check out "Haunting of Hill House". It's an amazing (10 eps) miniseries. It's scary, but heads up, it will also wreck you emotionally lol. But I do think it's a masterpiece, in my opinion at least. As far as movies go, I'd suggest: The Witch, The Wailing, Hereditary, Let The Right One In, Triangle & Coherence for some more challenging ones. Or The Conjuring, Insidious, The Shining for some more conventional ones. And Shaun Of The Dead & Happy Death Day for some more fun ones.

Chris Shine

And the usual list of October requests from the non-Wan/Blum fans, that fans have as yet seen either one or NO reactions from the Tube-verse: - Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein - The Ghost & Mr. Chicken - The Abominable Dr. Phibes (and/or Theatre of Blood) Sadly, however, Disney's "Something Wicked This Way Comes" doesn't seem to be available on D+, or anywhere else on streaming. Although it has a disk.

Attack the Block

Mike Turp

The Collector (2009)

Kevin B

I recommend me3gan and Us

Wesley Farrell

Hush (2016) is probably my favorite horror film as someone who generally doesn't like them.

Dan Kotowski

The Wailing (2016) The Babadook (2014) The Devil's Backbone (2001) Creep 1+2 (2014) (2017) Color Out Of Space (2019)

Attack the Block is such an amazing film. It’s a guaranteed good time.

Coraline, hocus pocus 2

Calbert

Cannibal! The Musical

Jordan Love

It follows

Dale Diaz

Hereditary,Midsommar,VHS/VHS 2/VHS 94, Host, unfriended/unfriended 2, the exorcism of Emily Rose, it follows. These are the most disturbing horror movies I've ever seen that will turn ur stomach and these don't have the same cliche storylines as Conjuring imo. But hey Happy Halloween it's my birthday month hehe 😬

Tony Biersack

You gotta do Evil Dead 2! For some psychological horror i'd go with The lodge and The Lighthouse. Noroi: the curse (which is a personal fav) and Pulse (2001) for good asian horror. Attack the Block is another great but underated horror movie. It has John Boyega before his role as Finn in Star Wars. What we do in the shadows (2014) and One Cut of The Dead if you want horror comedy.

Jeremy Bassi

The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Loosely based on the "real" exorcism of Anneliese Michel (In 1960/70s Germany) IMO the barn scene is probably the best thing about it. Evil Dead/Army of Darkness series Tucker and Dale vs Evil (scare comedy) Childs Play series Any of the Nightmare on Elm Steet or Friday the 13th series, dated and campy but still fun to watch if you've never watched them. If you've already seen these, my apologies. I'm new to this channel.

Stephen Lewis

Nightmare before Christmas for Halloween. And as always.. Inside Out, Wreck it Ralph, Toy Story

FatLittleButterfly

Signs 2002 is a slower paced but cozy and spooky movie

Stephen Werben

"April Fools Day" is a fun movie and I second "Psycho II" as a very good follow-up to "Psycho". "The Fog" is another one I like...

Michael Labs

Horror is not usually my favorite, but there’s one that I saw when I was a kid that made an impression — “Lady in White” (1988). And I recommend the series “The Haunting of Hill House” if you haven’t already seen it.

Tom Evans

Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness

Richard Higgs

Doom (unrated) -2005 starring Dwayne Johnson and Karl Urban is one of my absolute guilty pleasures.

Andrew Riley

Nightmare Before Christmas is my favorite Halloween movie

Kev Rink

WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS 2014

Matt

Psycho 2 from 1983 is a very underrated sequel! I think it does the original Psycho justice!

Tyler Gorash

Exciting stuff ahead sounds like Vicky 🥳🎉 as nat just watched it I can't not recommend coraline if you've not seen it that's a travesty cuz it's a movie I know you will adore 👌 , almost daily they show the teaser for nun 2 which I've not even seen the first one but they both look perfect for October 👍 , all the scream movies are fun although it depends if you wanna be scared out your mind or just entertained 🙂 , I think you've seen cabin in the woods already I'm unsure though but lastly I gotta recommend - the strangers talk about creepy 😱

Ian

I would give my life for you to see the Final Destination saga (Or at least the second one). If you haven't seen it off screen of course. 😅

ElDoritos97

Yay! HorrAR as you pronounce it! Evil dead 2! You must! It's tradition! Your best reactions are you almost puking and trying not to get angry at how much the gore keeps ramping up and getting worse somehow

Jesse Darty

My Recommendations: -"Cloverfield" (2008) an found footage Sci fi horror drama film built on mystery and atmosphere. You would love this movie. I wont spoil what its about for you to find out while watching. -Ill also recommend the sequels. "10 Cloverfield Lane" (2016) and "Cloverfield Paradox" (2018) These are mind bending sci fi atmospheric horror mystery films built to keep you guessing until the end. Honestly would be an amazing Sci Fi horror series for you to watch for Halloween season :) -Since its another found footage film "Paranormal Activity" (2007) -Lastly "Signs" (2002) starring Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix.

LightsCameraJake

The Frighteners by Peter Jackson... although I'm nor sure how well the effects have held up, and of course Evil Dead 2.

phillip giroux

Horror is one of the only genres of movies I can't do unfortunately 😔 but I am so happy that you are so excited for spooky times 👻 Edit: I have a few horror adjacent movies that I do actually like, and I see you haven't reacted to "Happy Death Day" or "Happy Death Day 2 U" The first is more of a play on the traditional slasher and pokes fun at it while the second almost genre shifts. Very fun movies with a great leading performance from Jessica Rothe
