Kill Bill Volume 1 | Full Length Reaction!

Why people pay attention to the feet for other than aesthetic reasons in Tarantino films... I just don't get it

Luis Martell

Why do feet bother you so much? They always do close ups of eyes, and hands... what di you have against feet?

Luis Martell

Having a Vee binge watch party today haha Now Kill Bill yes!!

Avery

shall we keep an eye out for KB2?

Steve H

That's so cool I love that!!

VKunia

That's a pretty cool birthday present!! And IF HE IS WHYYYY DOES IT NEED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE FILMS 😭😭😭😭

VKunia

I *REALLLYY* DISLIKE NEEDLES LOL

VKunia

I see so it's like a running joke/spoof :) thats pretty neat!

VKunia

Although I've seen Inglorious Basterds, it's been such a favorite of mine I wouldn't mind doing a rewatch for the channel just because of how great it is :))

VKunia

This movie is great, thank you James 😊

Another bit of trivia. The female band in the end are called the 5,6,7,8's. Tarantino was shopping in Tokyo, and a clerk was listening to their songs. He liked them so much, he bought the CD from the clerk (at 2x the price - the clerk was a haggler) and got hold of them to be in the Kill Bill film.

Mastervodo

Yeah. So Tarantino is very open about having a foot fetish. Hence, his movies feature shots like that and there is a famous scene in "From Dusk til Dawn" where he is one of the actors and they do a whole foot thing in front of him. Not to put a damper on the movies, because they are something else, but this was Harvey Weinstein's production. Also in Part 2, there is a scene that Uma Thurman spoke out about, which you can look into after (doesn't spoil anything) that caused her to have a falling out with Tarantino briefly. She was in Pulp Fiction (another must watch movie) and this part (her character) was written for her and given to her as a gift from Tarantino on her birthday.

Justin

One last thing I wanted to say. With all the blood, gore, maiming, decapitations, defenestrations, slicing, dicing, stabbing, shooting and scalping in this movie - you cringed hardest seeing a needle that wasn't even used. :) HA!

Mastervodo

Also awesome every time you point out a Wilhelm scream!

Mastervodo

Hey Vee! To add to the Tarantino lore and stuff to look for in his movies: You saw the ad and commented on it for "Red Apple" cigarettes. This is a fictional cigarette brand that debuted in Pulp Fiction, and references to them can also be found in other Tarantino's movies, like Four Rooms, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Mastervodo

I will always wish part 1/2 were together because the original edit supposedly didn’t mention the Brides daughter was alive. Imagine the shock!!!!! Still brilliant movies. My favorite Tarantino, even though I still think Inglorious Basterds is his best.

Anthony Wickizer

Great react! Haven't watched this in 20 years and I forgot how good it is.

James M

Yes way! It's also why the anime scene is animated and not live action.

The Dingo

I should also add sacred objects, too. Sometimes you'll see them wrapped around giant boulders. You might see these mixed with other slips of paper with writing on them. Those are blessings or prayers to keep either evil out of or bound within the sacred area or object.

TJ Bigelow

I’ve always seen them around but never knew what they were. Thank you for giving me this info TJ ☺️ I’ve always been so curious when I’d see them!

VKunia

Ohhh now that you point it out that makes a lot of sense, the second you mentioned the protrusion the realization came to me, made me realize where you were going with it! Very true great observations :)

VKunia

😭😭😭 why…. After the 4th foot shot within 3 minutes, my brain caught on and began going “🤨”

VKunia

That’s so cool :)

VKunia

NO WAY???

VKunia

CLEARLY LMAO during the black and white scene my mind jumped to “did they change the scene color cause they ran out of blood and needed to use water” LOL

VKunia

I love that it is and wouldn’t have it any other way 🪭

VKunia

It’ll be coming soon don’t worry 🥰🥰

VKunia

The zigzag paper hanging on the string behind Hattori Hanzo is used to signify a boundary to a sacred area/zone/space. Often found on Torii Gates.

TJ Bigelow

Kill Bill Volume 1 is one of my favorite movies of all time. The needle drops, the choreography and cinematography, the fight at the House of Blue Leaves - I personally think this is Tarantino at his most artistic. So glad this made it through the poll for a reaction!

Erik Stevenson

Loved your reaction, Vicky! I predict that you will enjoy part two quite a lot as well. Just wanted to clear up a few things: the gold colored fabric strings on the saya that you were asking about is called the sageo, and the purpose of it is to attach the saya to the belt that the user normally wears, so that when the sword is drawn, the saya doesn't go accidently migrate out of the swordsman's control. The weapon Gogo utilizes is a modern version of something called the Meteor Hammer. It's a flail type weapon that takes a LOT of time and practice to master. In fact, it is a weapon that can be nearly as dangerous to the wielder as it is to their opponent. When O-Ren draws the tanto, it looks, to me, at least, like she is contemplating seppuku as an alternative to fighting the bride one on one. Her posse showing up in the nick of time simply delayed the inevitable. One of the details that displeases me every time I watch this movie is the "scalping part". The viewer sees a shot of O-Ren's head with her fully intact brain protruding. Had the bride landed such a strike, the cut would have been straight across and no brain would be visible from that angle. It's a little thing but it still bugs me.

David Bennett

The feet thing is a Tarantino 'feature' in many of his films. I didn't realize it until just a few years ago when I read it in a review. I won't give examples but you noticed it in "Kill Bill Volume 1" already.

ButtercupsTrueLove

at the end it says based on "the bride" created by Q + U.... Quintin and Uma started talking about this when they did Pulp Fiction a decade earlier

Tom Dean

The big fight was in black and white because there was so much blood the movie would have been rated NC17. They had to use black and white to keep it rated R

The Dingo

"SO how much blood budget did you use for the film" John Hammond from Jurrasic Park: "Spared no expense"

LightsCameraJake

20 Minutes in: "wow, this is over the top!..." oh, girl...

Chester Beals

I remember my dad and sister watching kill bill so many times when I was a kid, by the time I was old enough to actually watch it probably I kind of knew everything that happens but always enjoy it can't wait to see your reaction, have a great day V 😊

Matt

My favorite Tarantino movie (well, technically second favorite since I love Part 2 more)! Uma Thurman is absolutely incredible in this. The Bride is honestly one of my favorite characters from a Tarantino movie. I hope you do Kill Bill Vol 2 soon!
