Breaking Bad (Season 2 Ep 12) | Full Length Reaction!

Comments

From what I remember, it seemed like it was more of in the moment that it happened. I don't think Cranston is a method actor so it just so happen to play out the way it did. It seems like Aaron Paul takes more of a method approach.

JeremyOnDeck

I hate that Cranston actually went there, imagining his own daughter in that situation. He sells the scene of course, but he didn't have to imagine that ffs. He is a good enough actor to carry that scene without that.

Saltire

He goes back to Jesse's flat with good intentions too, and instinctively tries to save Jane, after what Douglas said; but then his ego got in the way and he makes this terrible decision. Any sympathy I had for him up to this point went out the window for the remainder of the show. He remained a great compelling character, but it was clear here, he would have no redemption for this path.

Saltire

Yeah this is a very rough one. Walt sees a way to get Jesse out of this mess and end a threat to him as the opportunity arises. Its also a conscious effort for him to leave Jane there dying, as his first instinct was to save her. This was where any sympathy remaining I had for Walter going on this path, ended. All I felt from then on was that I hoped his bad influence on others, doesn't spread further, like a cancer, and that somehow he doesn't bring around devastation on his family.

Saltire

I will never understand people who defend Walt at all in this show, EVERY decision he makes is a detriment to those around him and he keeps seeing it but ignores it for his own arrogance. On first watch I didn't side with Walt but I didn't hate him outright either, but on rewatches, by god, Walt is a horrible human being. Walt is a top tier villain, just so selfish in a weird and twisted way and just spirals completely.

Yes having a baby is like that, they don't do anything so you just hang out and change diapers. It' rad.

BRAVO VINCE, HE CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS GENIUS

MrAlexSan

I remember reading how Jane's death scene was incredibly emotional for Bryan Cranston to film because he has a daughter himself and while Jane was choking he saw his own daughters face and he said it was like watching his own daughter die in front of him. Also giant applause to Krysten Ritter for playing Jane so well.

BLGFish

What makes the scene even more horrible, is that you can see that the reason Jane is on her back is because Walt knocked her over when he was shaking Jesse.

Vee if you want to see Brian Cranston in an AMAZING movie, watch the newest Godzilla movie.

LightsCameraJake

Me neither..

VKunia

I agree with what you’re saying. I believe this saved Jesse but at the cost of another life? This is something he will always have to live with and I cannot imagine how he is able to. Cranston is a phenomenal actor and each episode is honestly a masterpiece. I have no idea how he does it. He managed to depict and give us such a complex character so successfully. I’m speechless from his skill.

VKunia

That breaks my heart, he had a fatherly impulse to protect Jesse like you mentioned, and he basically saw Jane as a poison that this would get rid of. If the tables were turned and Janes father witnessed Jesse choking, would he do anything? It’s crazy to think about and I didn’t realize just how much Jesse had grown on Walt until now :/

VKunia

That’s definitely why he let her die 🤕

VKunia

I completely agree. I’m having such trouble finding a soft spot for Walt after this. She didn’t deserve it even if she was mean to him. A life is a life

VKunia

I agree. She made bad decisions and the only thing I disliked was her being obsessed with the money. Granted she loved Jesse even without it but seeing her character change for it and how she threatened Walt when all he wanted was the best for Jesse made me so sad, it felt like a misunderstanding. But I didn’t want her to die and I’m really upset she did. Although it makes life easier for Walt, it makes life for Jesse 1000000x harder.

VKunia

😭😭😭 his character is becoming more and more flawed with each episode. I liked sweet Walt but there is some serious darkness in him

VKunia

I’ve never even thought of that… that’s heartbreaking that a simple empathetic exchange of words between strangers unknowingly cost him the life of his daughter. This is so sad.

VKunia

It still makes me sad

VKunia

!!!!’ this show is magic like that 🥲 making that correlation honestly hit SO hard because its showing the same thing in the form of innocence then with harm. The juxtaposition was so crazy to see. Hurt so much

VKunia

This helps me get through anything

VKunia

Still can't believe Walt did this.

Jaroslav Dočekal

I was pretty speechless the first time I saw that ending. Cranston said he had imagined his own daughter in that situation. His transition from realizing what he was doing to then switching back over to Heisenberg at the very end was just masterful acting. Every re-watch of this I see the parallels of Walt's newborn to Jane death and it still hurts to watch. I don't think Jane was a bad person but I do believe drugs brought out the worst in her. Jesse and her would have never made it very far. I believe, in the most messed up way, Walt may have saved Jesse here. I can't wait for that finale.

JeremyOnDeck

God I had such an awful reaction seeing you leading up to the last scene. I knew it was going to wreck you and didn't want to see it. It's such an awful moment though, Walt felt like no matter what he did he was going to lose Jesse and out of nowhere a moment comes where he can get Jesse safe. It's so tough. We also learned through walt's conversation with jane's dad, that walt reached a point where he sees jesse as family, and he has a duty to protect him

Dale Diaz

Although Walt watched Jane die, I believe Walt in that short time span could see Jane blackmail him and then coming back time and time again for money. Definitely a painful site though for Walt especially since they just had a daughter themselves.

David Cansler

God I felt bad for Jane and I see Walt as the villain. Jane was an addict and much like some here say, a victim of her impulses. Anybody with empathy can see that and feel sad for her. Looking at it from her perspective. Even looking at it from walts, it's hard to not feel feel bad for Jane and to severely just not like walt anymore.

LightsCameraJake

I'm always surprised by how many people hate Jane and were happy that she died. Yes, she made a lot of poor decisions, was an addict, and manipulated Jesse, but I don't believe that she was a "bad" person. I think she was a victim of her own worst impulses and it was pretty awful of Walt to let her die.

Joshua Markham

Walt can't take charity because he has too much pride and proud of his amazing abilities. However, he can't even brag to his family or spend any of it, so he bragged to his newborn daughter.

JiminyMac

Its really interesting that Walt and Jane's dad were talking about the same people to one another without realizing. Walt was talking about Jesse when Jane's dad said "family?" And Walt replied yes. Her dad unknowilgny inspired Walt to patch things up with Jesse, which then ultimately led to Jane's death. I always felt like this was Walt's point of no return: he let a (relatively) innocent person die solely because it would make his life easier.

Neville L

Also, I wanna say… this is probably my 12th rewatch of Breaking Bad from start to finish… and SPOILERS FOR THIS REACTION … I never caught that Jane telling Jessie to lie on his side was just like Walt demonstrating to Marie to keep the baby on the side. Omfg, I can’t believe I’m STILL catching things I didn’t see the first 11 times wtf

MrAlexSan

What an ending to an episode. This show hits so hard, and pulls no punches. Can't wait for the season finale.

TGrimace

Vee if and when you get sad, always remember, Walt in da tighty whities

LightsCameraJake

VICKAYYYYY! (so sorry)

Mike Miner

Time for the big sad.
