Not only was attacking while waving a white flag is a dirty trick its also a war crime

letters from Iwo Jima is such a beautifully done movie! And of course the true story of the flag raising on Suribachi. Such incredible stories! USMC!

If I recall correctly I believe that number came from a discussion between his Captain and him after. The Captain said he must have saved 100 men and Doss (as humble as he was) stated it couldn’t have been more that 50. So the MoH citation stated 75 as a meet in the middle number

I'm glad you liked this movie Vee! It was very well done, respectful, heartfelt. and entertaining. One of my favorites. If you want to watch another very well done, and surprisingly accurate and respectful war movie some time that was also done by Mel Gibson, I HIGHLY recommend you getting around to watching "We Were Soldiers" at some point, about the 1st Cavalry Division pioneering air-mobile helicopter landings in Vietnam in 1965 during the Battle of Ia Drang. And I hope you'll take a look at The Pacific sometime. Same people as Band of Brothers. In good time! I know these movies are hard on you! Can't wait to see what else we all get to watch with you! :)

I’ve never heard of that before! I’ll take a look into it, thank you Andy ☺️

You mentioned seeing movies from the other perspective. There is a movie called “Flags of our Fathers” and it’s companion film “Letters from Iwo Jima” that you might check out sometime. One is American side of the campaign, and one is the Japanese side. Plus, you get more Ken Watanabe

So happy you finally got to see this. Desmond's feats seem too heroic to be true but sure enough he saved as many as they say and probably many more. He even got off the stretcher at the end so he could let another wounded man take his place. Then, after getting shot in the arm he crawled his way back to an aid station.

Great reaction Vee, really good movie with such an amazing story. You're commentary is never annoying to me, talk it up, that's why I'm here lol

Vee. There is an AMAZING true story war film STARRING Mel Gibson Called "We Were Soldiers" That true story inspired him to take on this project directing this movie about Dezmond Doss. ALso Vee, you saw Band of Brothers, but if you want to see more about the Japanese side of the war, the Band of Brothers series continues with A 10 Episode mini series called "The Pacific" also produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. The true stories of thes men is worth watching for everybody to know their stories. Also yes the Japanese were ruthless when it came to targeting wounded and medics. The Pacific mini series expands on their war tactics and why they do what they do.

A very good movie. I think the french title is more acurate than the english one. "Tu ne tueras point" or "you should not kill" if my traduction is correct. This title focus you on desmond, the english one focus you more on the war. I apologie in advance if I mess my commantary (sorry french guy here :) ) and I wish you all a good reaction video with VKunia :)

Vee, an amazing fact about this movie: In the end when they show the number of people he saved, is not the real number. They had to reduce the amount of people he saved for the film as the true real amount of people he saved was way more so they cut it down to seem realistic to people. It's mindblowing as he actually saved over 100 people.
